The plugin was deactivated in our live demo and we have fixed it by activating the addon.
Also, can you please let us know what problem you are facing?

Since WPDM – Button Templates is a small plugin so we do not release its update often.

You can take a backup of the plugins/wpdm-button-templates/wpdm-button-templates.php file so that in future you do not lose it with an update or even you can note the line number where you have edited.

Also, the child-theme wpdm-button-templates override method will not work in this circumstance.

However, We have released an update(2.8.8) of the WPDM Extended Short-codes plugin which will fix the target=_blank issue.

You can remove the download button on the link page by following the below procedure.

Changing Template Files in /plugins/download-manager/tpls/link-templates ( Download Manager Plugin ) dir:
Copy /plugins/download-manager/tpls/link-templates dir to your active theme dir
Rename it to download-manager
Now remove all files from {active-theme}/download-mamager except the ones you need to modify
Update template file(s) in {active-theme}/download-manager dir as per your need
