Not sure where you want to make the update, you can modify the link template to showing custom excerpts length for the packages from the description.

Or you can use 3rd party SEO tool like Yoast SEO to include the excerpt from the package.

If you are using WP Pro membership plugin to create membership plan and put specific members on the specific plan. You can give access to specific categories for a plan with it. It will hide the packages which the members do not have access to the membership plan.

Are you using the latest version? If you can send login in private reply, I can check the issue. Because if you select hide everything then the package will not be shown to users.

you can easily modify the page/link template to remove the download link button. As you want to use file_list download button. Please go to /wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=wpdmpro&page=templates&_type=page page template section and modify the one you are using with the package.

But you can pop up for the download file. You can use the extended shortcode addon and use [popup_link] in the page/link template. It will open the package link in a bootstrap modal popup.

Are you using the jquery carousel addon? You can set show=number value to define how much items you want to show.
