Yes it is possible. However it needs pro version to edit templates with template tags with the date.

It will sort files in folders too.

First of all please Make sure that WPDM and all add-ons you are using of WPDM are in the latest version. Now the latest version of wpdm is 6.0.2 . If you can’t update it directry from WordPress dashboard, Please update from here

Sorry to hear about the issue.

As template and shortcode structure has been updated, Please remove the link_template="app_card" from the shortcode then update. It will work. then you can again add new link template ID by following this. It will solve the issue.

Shortcodes are to simply show downloads in pages.

However, I am not clear about your query. it will be very cooperative if you record me reproducing your issue using a tool like this or you can give us screenshots by using this tool?
Also please send relevant url of your website with the issue.
