Hi,

You can create/clone link-templates from the Download > Templates and according to your link-template adjustments, you can use [icon] in your link template, for more template tags you can visit here, https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/doc/templates/template-tags/. and after the necessary adjustments, you can use it in your shortcode in this parameter, template="default" instead of the default

I have changed several changes, one is you have concated catLink misplaced, so it was giving an error and other is you may check, I have set isset function for this download_link error skipping. BTW, glad to hear this your some part problem has been resolved

For #1, there is no way to manually input file types, but you may manually input file icon as I image attached,

and #2, If you are familiar with some coding, you can easily do that, otherwise, there is a need for a customizer for your site for doing that
