I have checked your issue. The same version you are using, I am using my testing site. Here, the protection feature is working properly. I think it may be a conflict between your plugins or theme. can you please enable/disable other plugins for checking, you may also switch the theme to another for checking. 1. Create template, for PDFs, that includes the [doc_preview] tag?
2. In the individual PDF package editor page in WPDM, set the link or page template to that one I created that has the [doc_preview] tag?
3. Then to individually embed that PDF on a page, use the [wpdm_package id=“package-id-here”] tag to embed that PDF on a page with other content?
