Define to following constant in your wp-config.php file:

define('WPDM_ADMIN_CAP', 'editor');
define('WPDM_MENU_ACCESS_CAP', 'editor');

We have adjusted the code to remove empty item from files array. So, now it is a global fix, for old and new packages.
Also, added it on our side too for the next update.
