user don’t have to use default login option, you can activate custom login form from download manager settings page which will be shown in page details page when user is not logged in, after login there he will see the download link. Everything will be in same page.

Yes, you can. under package settings there is “Access” field, you can use it to allow access for specific user roles.

you can change text/labels from language file, otherwise you also can edit text directly from functions.php ( not recommended )
