The license key will work with the latest version of wpdm pro. Please follow the steps to upgrade:
1. Deactivate and Delete the old version Admin Menu ► Plugins
2. Download the latest version from https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/user-dashboard/?udb_page=purchases
3. Install and activate the latest version
4. Done! ( The process will not harm your old data/settings )
From the next update, you will be able to use the automatic upgrade as usual.
However, if you are already using the latest version, probably your server firewall is blocking wpdownloadmanager.com.

That will require customization for the step to mail password and set the password. Alternatively, if your purpose is to keep the download request pending until you approve or decline it, you can use the email lock. There you can set the settings to do that.

@webrealisation, if you use form lock ( https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/wpdm-form-lock/ ) with wpdm pro, you can handle it without password, You can link a form with a package, users will receive a download link only after they fill the form.
We have simplified the updating function in the upcoming 5.0.6, removed login requirements. you will not need to do it manually anymore from the next update as long as your support and update period is active.
