Excellent, this answers one of my questions. Is it possible to make this behavior the default? Or specify this link template for multiple downloads at the same time?

I’m still curious if it is possible to get a download shortcode directly on the post editing page?

you need to create a link template without using [page_link] tag. more details http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/docs/integrated-templates/

I’d like to have my downloads start immediately, and not redirect the user to a ‘Downloads’ intermediary page. Is this possible? So when the user clicks the link generated by the shortcode and the download begins immediately?

Further, is it possible to embed a download shortcode directly from a posting editing page? Or must the shortcode be copied from the downloads page into the post editing page? This would save a lot of time and make the plugin far easier to use.

    Thanks for the help!

    Hi,

I have downloaded the upcoming release version 2.7.0 of the wp download manager. I have noticed two issues:

    1. I have created 3 test downloads – 2 word docs and 1 x pdf. As I try to create additional downloads, I am unable to assign an icon to the download – I have tried to set it to a variety of different icons and nothing seems to work – It lets me select the icon ok. I then save the download and once I go back to the icon box, nothing is selected.

The strange thing is that the plugin seems to be assigning the icon to the download on the front end – See the attached screenshot. But it does not display the icon and when I open the icons link in another tab it comes up as page not found on my website. I have checked the plugin folder and the icons are definitely in the correct folders…

This issue is prevalent on both a live test website and also on a localhost install as well.

    2. Password protected file popup box – When you have enabled a password on a file and click on the link in the frontend of the site, a box pops up with field to enter the password. After the entering the password successfully a download button appears and by clicking on it everything works fine. However, the issue is that after successfully downloading the file, the popup remains on the page and there is no way to disable it. Is is possible to automatically disable this box after the download completes or just put a X somewhere on the popup allowing manual closing? See attached screenshot for what I mean.

    Thanks. Great plugin.

I understand. I want to use a fontawesome , but it breaks the link label field.

With version 2.6.3 new files are getting a prefix like “1399979513wpdm_” what i don’t want but even more of a problem, the link gets a double equal sign (“==”) at the end. That causes a click on that download link to return to the homepage instead of downloading the file.
    I use shortcodes per download like [wpdm_file id=16 title=”true” ]
    What is wrong?

[download_url] will not work for locked package, if you apply lock option you must have to use [download_link] which generates full html for download link including all required lock option.
you set link label to “Get Your eBook” and use [downlod_link] instead of <a href="[download_url]">Get Your eBook</a>

Seems my Custom Template it to blame.

It will not work when using: “Get Your eBook

But, It will work with using only this: “[download_link]”

Is there a way to get it to work?

When I select “enable email lock”, “ask for visitor’s name”, and “download instantly” I get “LINK-EXPIRED”.

If I turn off all the Lock Options it downloads the file just fine.

    Hi!

I’d like to simply include a list of files in a package on a single page with download links the files seperately, and no link to the package page. How do I do this?

I’ve installed WPDM Pro 4.1.0 and now I want to implement link template to be used whenever packages are listed in other search results. You mentioned that this would be possible in 4.1.0. Can you please tell me how I can achieve this?

    See: http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/support/topic/use-custom-package-link-template-in-all-search-results/

    Thank You.

If you go to Downloads/New package, you create a new one and you add a template, for example Metro Style, then you add the code of the download, for example [wpdm_package id='450'] to a page, then you have in a page the download link with the thumb, the download link, the counter and other things.

But if I want to put this same download package (the id 450) but with another template in another page, for example the button template, I can’t. ¿?

    Thank you for your time

@offthepage, actually no way, as v4 using custom post type and taxonomy there was to way to keep the link, But we converted to custom post type ( v3 was not using custom post type) in v4 for better performance though it will give some extra work for user in migration process

    @GWalles
    , please use this http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/advanced-tinymce-button/ add-on for short-code generator.
here http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/downloads/add-ons/ are also some other free add-on could be useful for you.

for download link issue, please try short-code from tinymce button again

    Hello,

I just paid for Version 4 and upgrade accordingly from the free version. Maybe its just me, but the free version worked perfectly. There was a short-code generator that I could use to drop downloads into posts or pages. This is completely missing in Version 4.

I have created packages in Version 4, but cannot put them into any posts. I have tried copying the shortcode link for a package and pasting into a page/post. However, when you click the link to download all I get is redirected to an unknown page (probably created by wpdm).

I cannot understand the huge differences in useability between the free and paid version.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    G

Any news regarding this topic? Because I’ve selected the “Hide everything” option under “When user is not alowed to download:” in the Access settings, but the package still shows up in the list, with a login form tag instead of the Download link.

    Hello,

I have purchased two Download Manager Pro licenses and I would like to ensure that each one is associated with the proper domain. I noticed that when I am viewing “My Orders” and I click on that “domain” link, there is no domain listed for either license.

How do I associate the proper domain with each license?

    Should I be concerned?

    Please advise, thanks.

I have a license for Download Manager Dev, but cannot access the Pro forum so I’d thought I’d try posting here. I have a site that is currently running 4.0.7 and have a notification to update to 4.1.0. However, I there is no update link.

    Please advise.

Okay, just purchased this plugin and have played and played with the settings, but can’t seem to make it do what I want it to. I uploaded 2 files in one package, put the same password for each file, changed settings over and over again to see what would work – chose unlimited downloads. Problems:

    1) When you click on the Download button, it does not ask for a password, although I’ve set it up to require one.
    2) the download said “invalid-link”, downloads a text note that says “Download link is expired or not valid. Please get new download link.” What causes this to happen.
    3) When you click on the package link, it takes you to another page and I don’t like the page – it has a side-bar and I’d like it to be full-width… how can I change this to be the correct page look?
    4) that same page is entitled “wpdmpro” – can I change that page name? to something like Contractor Downloads?

Here’s the site page where I am testing this plugin: http://rab-1.com/contractors/

    Help? Thank you!

Ah! This page would be helpful to place on the “Thanks for your order at WpDownload Manager.com” email to give you less work!
    DOCUMENTATION: http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/docs/installing-wordpress-download-manager-pro/
Also, I created an account prior to making the purchase. Thus I had two accounts and ignored the link provided in the email. Maybe the word MUST USE THIS ACCOUNT needs to be added to your email as well.

Thanks for your response earlier. I hope this post helps others too!

Looks like there are some sort of understanding. There customization team prepared the add-on to link registration add-on and customize the feature to keep the user pending until you approve it. They also created the form for you, you simply need to apply form lock for your packages. form “‘ />:” please update image button add-on http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/wpdm-image-button/ , we released new update. Again if you wanted us to do this thing from ground it would take 20+ hours. We were using the form plugin and extended it with an add-on, so why we were able to do that with 4 hours customization deal. Anyhow as I checked everything is perfectly functional there. But if you want me to create sample, give me wp-admin login info in a private reply. I’ll create a complete sample which will make you clear on how it work.
