    not necessarily. You can clone link-template-calltoaction4.php to create a copy of that template from wp-admin menu ► downloads ► templates and update texts, then use the new template with your shortcode.

    Hello,
    I rebuilt my site last year, re-made all of my several hundred downloads and everything has been working fine until…I’ve updated plugins in the last month or so. I have a new download file to add and I’m getting errors when I try work with this new file, ‘No File Attached With The Package’ if you click the file title or Download button for the new download file I’ve added. The one I’m having trouble with is ‘VRWP Installation Instructions’. You can get to it by clicking on ‘Installation Instructions’ in the head area from this page:
    https://www.evenlite.com/downloads/

    You can see too, that the icon is not loading correctly either. I know I can go and choose the icon on the file download page, but I’ve not had to to that before.

    When I add a new file to link to by clicking ‘Select From Server’ in the dashboard, it says {{path on}} under the file name until I save/update the page and it refreshes. After that, there isn’t anything listed under there. Older files I’ve set up will show the file path to follow.

    I know the file is just fine. Here’s a link to it’s direct path:
    http://evenlite.com/Downloads/installation-instructions/VRWP-Installation-Instruction.pdf

    Do you have any suggestions? Thanks,
    Brett

    For updating the WPDM PRO main plugin, Please simply click the Save Settings again for the license key option from Downloads > Settings > License, and then please update the plugin from the wp-admin > plugins panel.

    Alternatively, You can also download them from here. And you can upload and install it as a normal plugin.

    please check and let me know

    Thank you and regards

    Hi Friends,

    I’m using Loco translate with Download manager pro, however, some strings are missing, so the frontend translation is partially.
    you can see an example here:

    מסמכים וכלי עזר להורדה

    I’ve translated the words downloads, or Downloads.
    and for example the “View more” option, I don’t even see it on the strings for translation.
    Can you please advise?

    Best regards
    Raphael

    Ok that worked!

    One more question, under the My Downloads we now see the files and the download button. How do we enable the “Lock” feature as we have a terms and conditions they must check prior to downloading. Note, that if you click the filename there are 2 download buttons. One large one in the top left (this one has the lock displaying when you click it). The other is a small download button on the right which does not require the lock popup once you click it.

    Hi there. Wanted to check back in. It seems like this issue continues to grow despite no changes on my end. In speaking to our Content Manager, she said she used to pull reports of downloads by user and only had a few lines of “Guest” that she would just remove. Her latest export showed 765, so they are increasing even though we are using SSO and all users have access levels assigned.

    Our Content Manager did mention that when she looked at the backend after downloading things herself, it appeared that it would show her name once or twice, but every download she did after that would show as “Guest” even though she knew it was her. Seems like that is a trend where there will be 2 downloads from the same person followed by several “Guest” downloads. Knowing that, it seems like a glitch within Download Manager and not something that I have done.

    Also, if we add a specific user to access a single package file, it will show up in their dashboard under My Downloads, however we have over 500 users so when we add a file, we can’t be expected to add each user individually. That is why we want to just assign a category of packages to a role so that anyone of that role will see all the downloads for that category.

    Hello,

    We have WPDM Pro as well as Adv Access Control setup. We setup a downloads category that we want all users of a specific custom Role to access. When we setup the category to allow access to the specific role, users of that role do not see the downloads in that category show up under their “My Downloads” section of their account on the frontend.

    That’s correct, Nayeem

    My client provides roughly 30 download packages to their memebers with multiple files in them. Once a member downloads a file from within a package, it should be listed in the recent downloads section of the user profile. C

    Currently I only get a repeat of the same package name. If say, a package contains 10 files and a member downloads 5 files individually from one package, the package name is listed 5 times. This doesn’t give a member a whole lot of information about what he actually downloaded.

    Hello Rita,

    Please hover the mouse pointer Edit option from Downloads > All packages section as I image attached,

    post-id

    I hope then, you should get the package IDs as per your needs. please check.

    Thank you again and regards

    Just a follow-up:

    I asked the new chat-gpt 4 (demo was released) for help and it suggested using debug_backtrace which I’ve never used before. Learned something new.

    Not sure about implications though, but it works with getOrder filter now without interfering with the order details page, so I’m assuming it’s all good. The bot says it’s discouraged to use it in production, but by using ignore args shouldn’t be a performance issues and that it’s ‘safe’ to use with DEBUG_BACKTRACE_IGNORE_ARGS. Anyways, seems a bit overkill compared to just having a hook before the ‘error messages’ are displayed as it’s going to be running often, but it’s working so I can move on.

    function wpdmpp_modify_order_data_temporarily_to_completed( $order_data ) {

        $trace = debug_backtrace(DEBUG_BACKTRACE_IGNORE_ARGS);
        $is_download_func = false;

        // Check for calls to download()
        foreach ($trace as $call) {
            if (isset($call['function']) && $call['function'] === 'download') {
                $is_download_func = true;
                break;
            }
        }

        if ($is_download_func) {
            // Check order status, if expired, change to completed and set expire date to 10 seconds in the future
            if ($order_data->order_status == 'Expired') {
                $order_data->order_status = 'Completed';
                $order_data->expire_date  = time() + 10;
            }
        }

        return $order_data;
    }

    That said, is there some compelling reason not to simply add a hook at that specific location on odata? It might be useful for other cases as well so that user isn’t navigated to those error pages.

    For example, store owner could also do things like :
    – Issue an pay now/upgrade/renew upsell whenever download() runs and says ‘not allowed’ for whatever reason.
    – ‘Your order expired on 3/23/23, so you can’t access things anymore. Upgrade your plan to access downloads? Yes, No. If no, then it continues to the error screen.

    Thanks for your help, if you have some thoughts feel free. If you’re busy, no worries as it’s working this way for now and can mark resolved.

    Hello Rita,

    Hope you are well. For disallowing crawling by the Search Engine. You can Mask Download Link, If you mask the download link, bots will not be able the find any public download link easily. You are able to find this setting from Downloads > Settings> Basic Settings. please check.
    And another way for making disallow Crawling Download Manager Pages on Google, Bing + search engines is, Add the following code at the end of your active theme’s functions.php:

    function noindex_for_wpdm()
    {
        if ( is_singular( 'wpdmpro' ) ) {
            echo '<meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow">';
        }
    }

    I hope it may help you. Please check and let me know

    Thank you and regards

    Yeh, actually just testing this now and using the getOrder filter won’t work at all for this case unfortunately. The order page is set to Complete because get order runs when loading the page which I didn’t notice at first try.

    The page should be expired and all the messaging / logic should remain expired (for renewal actions, upsell etc.). However, it should allow for downloads instead of blocking them in the wpdmpp download() function validity checks. So, unintended consequences using a general filter on order seem unavoidable.

    For example (with filter in ‘download()’):
    – User goes to order details
    – User sees ‘account expired’
    – User sees prompts to ‘renew’
    – User sees download buttons
    – Clicks on them and gets a list of all downloads available up until the expiration.
    – User clicks download, the download() apply filter on the order data kicks in
    – $odata gets set to ‘complete’ and ‘expire date’ is in future so user is allowed to download
    – $odata isn’t’ passed anywhere from that function so it dies there (I think).

    With filter using getOrder:
    – User goes to order details
    – Page is set to Complete (not expired), so they are served everything as if they ‘completed order’
    – User doesn’t see renewal instructions etc.

    Also it becomes impossible to work around with other solutions like store a global and ‘reset back on before download’ because you can’t ‘getOrder’ again without running the filter again so you end up in a loop.

    Hi there,
    I would like to add an no index tag to specific download packages. Since I’m not sure if this is possible I got to the second best option: to avoid indexing in the first place.
    I added a section at the very end of the functions.php of my Attire-Theme (below). Moreover I chose “Mask Download LinK” in Downloads > Settings > Basic.

    1. Did I do this right? If so, is there a way to test it before waiting for the google bots?
    2. Generally is there a smarter way?

    Thanks and Regards!

    // 404 page
    echo ‘

  • ‘ . ‘Error 404’ . ‘
  • ‘;
    }

    echo ‘‘;

    }
    }
    }

    new AttireBase();

    function noindex_for_wpdm()
    {
    if ( is_singular( ‘wpdmpro’ ) ) {
    echo ‘<meta name=”robots” content=”noindex, nofollow”>’;
    }
    }

You’re welcome.

BTW, in case you missed it, wpdm premium packages plugin has an interesting feature, we added recently, you can create payment link even without creating new product, we call it dynamic product. It was added recently. It may come handy in your any future project :).

Hi WPDM

We often get requests from clients, who cannot see the preview of our PDF-files, but instead just sees the source code in a frame.

We just had a new incident on this page: https://lyngdorf.steinwaylyngdorf.com/downloads/lyngdorf-catalogue-2022/ – when I view it the PDF file shows nicely with a preview, where I can scroll through the PDF without having to download it.

But often the visitors see it as this https://www.itchmarketing.dk/hubfs/Skrald/image002.png

We’ve been troubleshooting it internally. It happens across all browsers, both Chrome, Edge and Safari (100% updated).

Could you help us solve this problem?

Sorry, actually my fault, I thought you were trying to expire order as soon as user downloads an item.
However, please use this:
Cursor%20and%20wpdmpro%20%E2%80%93%20Order.php

We have added the hook for the next update.

We just went through a mess of an update, our website was down briefly, but everything – and I mean everything – is now up to date.

PHP64 version 7.4
Download Manager version 6.3.1
WordPress Amazon S3 Storage Plugin version 3.1.1 (in the list it’s the WPDM – Amazon S3)
WPDM – Elementor version 1.2.2
WPDM – OneDrive version 1.0.1
Wordpress 5.7.8 – ok, that’s not updated. Does WPDM need 6.1.1?

Note that the first two are paid for and licensed, in my current account. However, the S3 Storage Plugin doesn’t show up as registered on this page: Downloads->Add Ons. This happened when I removed it while upgrading and added it again.

Downloads -> Settings -> Updates shows wpdm-amazon-s3.zip shows version 3.1.1 activated.

However, if I go to “All Packages” or “Add New” and then click on “Select from Amazon S3” an initial screen comes up, but then just hangs.

So, we can’t post our update, and the media is upset with us 🙁

Other stuff:
Elementor / plugins all updated
Elementor Pro (I just purchased it, a previous website dev had installed it)

Site used to work fine a year ago when we made a download link.

The site is https://www.dworldvr.com

Please help! Thank you.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.

1. You are welcome.
2. If any user is assigned to any file, then he will automatically visit the downloads from frontend
3. You can view it from front end. You can set the allowed users to manage files from the below setting. So, user will be able to view/manage pending files from the page that is created using [wpdm_frontend] shortcode
image

Allowed user role will see those like below:

Also as an admin you can manage it from your wordpress dashboard

Let me know for further assistance.

Hello Floriana,

Thanks for the details.

1. updated the template file in child theme. in download-manager directory there. it hides the last 5 downloads
2. For sharing file specifically with user you need the below addon. Then there will appear a menu My Downloads. Clicking that will show the assigned downloads

Advanced Access Control

3.Pending downloads can be viewed from all items menu.

I’ve installed the webhook add-on and view downloads, but I also need to see who downloaded the user and their registration data.

I created a registration form that extracts various data, and it would be useful to report them in the spreadsheet that I have once the download request has been sent (always to a user already logged in)

I’d like users to be able to download the latest version of a product they owned at the time their access to it expires, regardless if their access expired or not. In other words, users access expires at version 1.1, then version 1.2 is released. User should still have access to version 1.1, but not have access to v1.2.

Currently, I believe a only solution for this is to:
– 1. Use unique attached files for each version update
– 2. Store the version info / ids of the files against the user account meta with each version update if the user’s access hasn’t ended. If it has ended, don’t store info against their accounts.
– 3. Before allowing access to a download, check what versions the user has access to and display only the versions they have access to by checking the meta data stored against their user account.

I believe this solution will work, but I’m not sure if updating meta for each user’s account each time their is a product update is an efficient solution if there are many users. Maybe not a huge issue, but seems a bit hacky.

Is there a better way about it or something built in I’ve missed? I know there is version/date for a file that’s attached, but changing that and granting access only to that version if their account has access would mean they wouldn’t be able to access previous versions they owned at the time their account expired. I don’t want users to get cut off from downloads if there account isn’t up-to-date, I just don’t want them to have access to updates that came after their account expired.

Thanks
