Hi, I’m trying to update my WPDM Pro to new version v.4.5.6
I follow all your instructions:
Delete wpdm pro 3 from wp-admin plugin manager ( don’t worry, it will not delete your files )
Install & Activate v4
Install WPDM 3 to 4 Data Migration Add-on
Go to Download Manager Settings Page
Click on migrate Tab
There you will see the list of all old packages, select max 100 package at a time, then click on “Save Settings” button at the button ( but if you can set exce
You can do that repeatedly until you are done with importing all packages
Finally you’re ready to continue with wpdm pro v4
But when I go to Migrate Tab, there is no download available to the migration process as you can see in the Screenshot attached.
If I revert back to the v.3.3.8 all downloads are there.
Any help on how to migrate successfully to new version?
Is there a way to display a list of downloads (preferably by category) on another site of a multisite network?
example: WPDM is active in one site of the network (not the main), and we want to display a list of downloads from one category in another site of the network.
Can this be done by network activating the plugin? or by means of a php call in a template on the “other” site? any other option?
thanks.
hi there,
I’ve tried everything to follow the instructions but not too clear.
How do I setup a page to show all available downloads to a logged in user, only if they have access to the download.
My user roles are on the category.
Thanks,
Jay
Hello;
– 1. I currently have an existing directory structure containing ZIP files
– 2. which I’d like to insert into existing pages in a table-view
– 3. with a direct download link
I have figured out that for 1. I can attach a folder to a Package, but inserting that Package (only Link Template is available or I am not understanding the template concept) only offers a link to an extra (and unwanted) downloads page.
If need be I can walk away from the existing directory structure and create custom Packages / Categories / whatever is required. Most important is have an existing list or table of files be injected in existing pages with a direct download link (ie. straight to the file.)
I’m usually persistant enough in figuring stuff out but this plugin and its mechanisms has me absolutely dumbfounded.
Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
Hello! I am using a membership plugin to protect content on my site. The one part I’m having difficulty with is the popup format of generated by WPDM. I’m 99% certain this used to work, because I recall being pretty excited about it. But either I’m imagining that, or something has gone wrong.
Using the popup is important to us for navigational purposes (to keep the user on the page that lists the downloads — they click the link, see the popup, grab the download, close the window — now they are back to the same list of downloads).
But the download button should be hidden from sight for some users. This is done (by the membership plugin) with a shortcode.
I created a page template that uses shortcodes to determine what the users will see, and as I mentioned earlier, I’m sure it was working at one time. But now I’m seeing the shortcode being output as plain text, and not functioning as they should.
Any idea why, or how to fix this? (Screenshot attached, and access to my site will be in the next private message.)
Hi,
Is there a way to use the Pro Membership add on for creating new users without going through the main WordPress interface? We want to be able to have our client create new users just for Download Manager Pro, without access to Admin features of the entire system. Let me know if this requires a shortcode to put into a page for the front end.
Right now, all we see is a member list within the Pro Membership addon without the ability to create new users from there. And the Downloads > Subscribers list is empty.
Thanks,
Hi there, first of all i’d like to say a huge thanks to Shahriar and the devs for their recent customisation work on WPDM for my site, the access request system you guys have dev’d for me is awesome.
I now have an issue with how to populate my sites library.
Originally I planned on this system.
‘Box’ Repository Sync’d With PC > PC FTP Upload Every 48hrs Automated > Files On Sever Linked To Packages
(This was originally my idea so that access control wasn’t handled by Box and we could keep it all in sync, this was on the understanding that the file names would never change at any stage of the sync, but i’ve just been informed that’s no longer going to be the case.)
So now that method isn’t going to work I was considering the following.
> Duplicate the ‘Box’ directories as a second copy that has Box open access.
> Sync that open access ‘Box’ and it’s files with packages in WPDM
> This should allow the access control customisation on WPDM to handle the downloads of the files from the Box.
My question:
(I was just finishing the .csv for bulk import when the client told me about the name changes so you can understand i’m now hoping there is a way to populate all my packages using a Box linked file with some ease.)
I’d appreciate if you could advise me of the best way for me to set this library up to support changes in Box files without breaking the package links when they are made.
Shahriar i’ll be on skype if you can discuss.
Thanks in advance,
Ben Lloyd
Hi Shaon and Shahriar,
Once more I would like to thank for the great plugin and the always quick support !
My little problem today is, that the “order by download_count” sorting in a wpdm-archive does not work.
I use the following code form your manual http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/doc/installation-usage/
[wpdm-archive button_style=”default” link_template=”5714cdf0cba4f” items_per_page=”9″ category=”category-slugs” order_by=”download_count“]
on this page: https://www.schiedel.com/de/downloads/
Please choose any category in the drop down… The order_by=”download_count“ sorting does not work.
Just for info, I have the drop down selection fields hidden via css. But the error is also without my change…
/* #mk-page-id-37 .w3eden .col-md-3 {
display: none !important;
} */
Is this a known bug ?
Any Idea?
Thanks a million for any help!
Best regards
Christian
Hello!
I’m new here and bought WP Download Manager Pro but I have some questions.
I’m trying to make a freebies website (people can download templates and other files for free) and I’m using portfolio custom post type to make the single products page (I found a template that I liked). I want to just paste the shortcode on this pages and get just the download button (like this: https://i.gyazo.com/f414f809992a87593bcb752825a6d046.png). How can I make it?
Also, I saw the plugin creates a new page like “domain.com/downloads/file123” but I don’t want this, because I will have double pages with the same file. What’s the best solution for this? I think I have two options:
1. Edit the page created by plugin and give it the same “portfolio” template (how can I do this?)
2. Hide all the “download” pages created by plugin, so I can put shortcode on the CPT and I will have a unique page for each file.
Hope you can help me with this.
Sorry for my english, I’m not a native.
Let me know if you have any question.
Thanks in advance!
I made a page for my frontend uploader located at: http://sitename.com/index.php/downloads-frontend/
That part is fine. The actual links, such as those of my edit buttons, go to “/edit-package/6093/
Which results in Page Not Found because edit-package page doesn’t exist…
In the WPDownloadManager Demo the EDIT buttons links are formed as such: /?adb_page=edit-package/6093/
So it seems my links are missing the “?adb_page=” part…
If I MANUALLY type in the address using the link style used in the demo (http://sitename.com/index.php/downloads-frontend/?adb_page=edit-package/6093/” it finds the page and works fine, but how do I get my frontend page to actually generate the proper form of links so I can just click the damn buttons instead of having to copy paste links like that?
Thanks!
