If you are using child theme, it will not be gone. If I make the changes in your theme directory, it will be gone too by updating theme unless you use child theme.
Just create a child theme and give me the access in a private reply and mention the issue to make the changes again so that this time it will be not gone.

I have just tested [thumb_gallery_100x100] in our testing environment and found that it is working fine and size is alright while using as the template tag. here 100*100 means Width ( W ) and Height (H) . As the images are wider, it is making white space on top and bottom too make it same as the size and ratio, I would suggest to use cubic image if you want to use cubic thumb, It will solve the issue of you.

I have just tested with version 1.7.1 in our testing environment and found that it is working fine without the template tag.
Let me know please which version you are using if you are using the older version, please update to 1.7.1 . Also if you are unable to download the version 1.7.1 , let me know that too.

Yes You can pass category parameter in this shortcode. Use a category parameter in this shortcode.
category: use any category slug here if you want to create an archive page for that specific category or don't use the parameter — include_children: if you use category parameter, on initial load, it only will fetch the packages from the mentioned categories, if you want to include packages from sub-categories too, you must use include_children=1 as the parameter

Download limit will work with wpdm file packages.
You have to upload the files to the download package in your website.
In this way, both you and wpdm will have the full control over the files. There could be issues with third parties mega which wpdm will not be able to handle. So it is not possible to limit download from mega.

WPDM post type is still wpdmpro. It doesn’t use the default post type of wpdm.
However, the next/previous option is getting from your theme’s single.php file. It has a solution >
the template for custom post type “wpdmpro”, will show WordPress Download Manager Package details when you open a WordPress Download Manager package URL. Usually, you can create a copy from single.php and rename it to single-wpdmpro.php and remove the next/previous portion from it.

I am not sure about the issue. I see it is loading fine.
However, sometimes javascript may conflict to load the accordion, in this case you can disable font awesome or bootstrap js or both which may fix the related issue from
Downloads > Settings >User Interface.

Sorry for this inconvenience.
WPDM Elementor latest version with Elementor and Elementor Pro is working fine from our test environment . But in your website that is not working.
However, It could be caused because of a conflict with another plugin, can you please enable/disable other plugins for checking, you may also switch the theme to another for checking, please let me know then. You can also test it in a clean wordpress environment.

It Could be a server issue or a repeater template error.
Can you check your php error_log for what the actual 500 error is referring too?
