However, you can use our below addon with wpdm to make a waiting page after clicking download button where you can show any message as well as ads.

I created a test package from frontend to demouser and found it is working properly.

What I think that you was not able to create because you didn’t allow administrator to create a new package from front end.
You can set that from Downloads > Settings > Front End access > Ruoli utente consentiti per creare il pacchetto dal front-end Admin was not added there. I added that.

However, I would suggest you to check all settings carefully and try to understand how it works.

With only wpdm, you are not able to show categories using shortcode. What you can do is to select categories to show all packages.
In my last reply I showed you an example and the necessary shortcode to use to show category blocks.

However, You can check the demo here and demo for the available shortcode with only wpdm.

Please check those and let me know what do you like then I can tell you what to add to show like that.
