I think you are attaching the file from the Select From Media Library.

When you attach files from media library as URL WPDM simply redirect to that URL when a user clicks on the download button, but when you upload a file directly or attach a file from server as server path, WPDM handles the download process and so there it can decide whether the file will open in browser or force download. So, if your file is already in the media library, and you want them to download instead of open in browser, please attach those files using the server file browser instead of the medial library file selector.

Hi,

If somebody clicks the download button, then it needs to stay on the same page for some time. Like when you press the button it downloads the file from the generated link. By default, the feature is, it has to be closed the popup manually.

Please follow these steps for upgrading the plugin,

1 ) Deactivate and delete the old version. You won’t lose any data.
2 ) Download latest version from here https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/user-dashboard/?udb_page=purchases
3 ) Install the latest version and activate the license key.

To enable the auto-update, login to your WPDM account from Downloads > Settings > Updates tab. If login is successful and you have an active subscription then you can update the future releases right from your plugins page.

Yes, You can follow this doc and edit templates, https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/doc/template-files/, by default, you are using link-template-default.php for link template and page-template-default.php for the page template. As documentation, you have to copy the file in the theme directory naming a folder called download-manager, then paste it in tpls>page-templates for page template or tpls>link-templates for link template. Thus you can also replace your default template by custom made template.
