[wpdm_archive_filter items_per_page="12" template="search_results_new" cols=2] counting packages for categories is a feature request, you may keep a feature request otherwise, you may use these shortcode,

[wpdm_categories subcat="1" showcount="0" cols=3]

[wpdm_tags btnstyle="link" icon="tag" showcount=1 cols=3]

here you will find a parameter called showcount

I have checked that, with dropbox files the packages are not publishing. can you please check all WPDM related add-on are up-to-date or not? and can you please enable/disable other plugins for checking, you may also switch the theme to another for checking, please let me know then. Hope you are well. Another way you can copy file download URL option from as I image attached

and if you restrict any package with a certain role, that role will only be able to access it for download package. please let me know, if I can help you somehow, otherwise, please share your related package URL, if possible, please, give your temporary wp-admin login details in a private reply for checking the issue.
