I have checked your issue. I think, choosing from the Select From Media Library option is causing the issue. You can also choose the other option too. When you attach files from the media library/URL as a URL WPDM simply redirects/tries to open that in the browser that URL when a user clicks on the download button, but when you upload a file directly or attach a file from the server as a server path, WPDM handles the download process and so there it can decide whether the file will open in browser or force download. So, if your files are already in the media library, and you want them to download instead of open in the browser, please attach those files using the server file browser instead of the media library file selector. I hope you have understood. please check and let me know

For hiding the Author column you can edit this file from the plugins\download-manager\src\AuthorDashboard\views\author-dashboard\list-packages-table.php directory file in line number 39. I have checked your issue. I can’t able to browse the download packages, it redirects me to the home page. are you facing this issue too? I have also checked there are many plugins installed on your site. It can have conflict with other plugins too. Am I able to check enabling/disabling plugins or you can also check? Hope you are well. For updating the WPDM PRO plugin, Please simply click the Save Settings again for the license key option from Downloads > Settings > License, and then please update the plugin from the wp-admin > plugins panel.
For saving settings again for the license key option from Downloads -> Settings -> License, that will regenerate the access token. Thus the plugin will be updated, hope that, it will solve your issue.
If still, the problem exists then you can also manually update the plugin
