wpdm doesn’t control the file when you use url like that, either you need to upload it or add file from server using server file browser. but to keep file protected from direct http access, you need to upload using wpdm or you can use amazon s3 add-on.
in that case it is api permission issue, did you setup proper permission ( read/write ) for your aws api key?

no email notification available for file upload, but wpdm pro has a download notification add-on. Anyhow wpdm has an android app here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.w3eden.wpdm . Next update of the app ( coming next week ) will have push notification option for uploads, downloads and sales.
for tech support on exiting feature please use forum, only sales and custom upgrade team reply in email. Actually wpdm have nothing much to do on showing preview, we just using Google docs previewer, so you only will be able to show preview of google supported files and also, if you apply any lock option, doc preview will not work.

You can change the url from Login Required Message option in wpdm settings.
in that case I need to check it in your installation, if you can’t allow me to access to main site please create a dev installation so that I can check and set it up there for you. But I’m sure there is no issue with the add-on.

no problem to use it in sub-doamin. to preview page/link template, you need to create at least 1 package. upload limit 1mb is from your server, wpdm has nothing to do with it.
