the button template is not a template tag, it is a short-code, you need to use it in post content, like wpdm_package. For button image you need to install http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/wpdm-image-button/
the login info you gave was not working when I tried to login to adjust the issue, anyhow as you already adjusted the issue, don’t need that anymore 🙂
to get back all old files, go to Admin Menu Downloads Settings Migrate Tab, from there you can migrate all data from v2.6 to v2.7 . For other issue I need to check it from your installation, please give me temporary wp-admin login info in a private reply to check your issue.
@MartinR, in that case, you simply need to edit download-managr/templates/link-template-default.php, remove everything except [download_link], then for download button, please download, install and activate http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/wpdm-image-button/
add-ons are just like regular plugin, you simply need to, download, install and activate those like any other regular plugin.
the issue is because your theme is messing up inline javascript code, I tried to adjust that from plugin editor, but I couldn’t because of file permission. Either please make download-manager files writable or give me ftp access.
But front-end looks is not working for your theme, it is working good with standard themes like twenty fourteen
