Yes, you can hide anything you want, you simply need to clone current template, remove [download_link] tag and [download_count]` tag, then save it as new template, lastly use the new template with category short-code. More details about templates are here:

the add-on was caching mailchimp list, I disabled cache, anyhow we are updating add-on, so you will not have to worry about it 🙂
