Hi,
another question: I want to create download-packages, that only specific users can see, when they are logged in.
I have wpdm-pro and the “custom-access-level”-plugin. In the settings of wpdm at “When user is not alowed to download:” i selected “Hide everything”. But as well es not logged in users and other logged in users do see the download-package and a link “log in”. So whats the problem?
Hello,
I am running version 3.3.8 of download manager on WordPress 3.8. Everything seemed to be okay when we tested it. Now we have launched the site and I see an issue. I have a page that lists the files by category. If I click on the download link, the files will download. But if I click on the package name to see the files in the package, I just get a blank page. I have the WPDM Archive Page plugin installed (version 1.7.0) and active.
I want to be able to link to a download from post content using the WP built-in link tool. So, if I highlight “Download” in the post content, I’d like to be able to create a link from that text to the download directly rather than having to go to a page where the download link displays.
Possible?
Hi,
I downloaded Download Manager and the Directory add on.
1. Thumbs are not showing up on my page template. I created a page template and couldn’t get the thumbnail to show. I the assigned the file the page template of Single Column, Image Top but no image appears (which suggests there might be an issue with the shortcode). The upload is a jpeg and I have added an image in ‘Additional Previews’. I couldn’t get thumb_url to work either.
2. Prettify buttons with bootstrap isn’t working either. I insert [download_link btn btn-lage btn-success] and it returns this shortcode in the browser and not a pretty button. This is on link and detail.
3. Default link and detail templates. How do I make my templates for link and page the default ones? I don’t want my client to have to keep remembering to select specific drop downs. Or maybe there is a global setting for this that I missed?
Thanks in advance
Nick

The 4.0 rc2 shows up in my downloads but It serves the 3.3.3 version on all available links?
I have my WP installed in a subdirectory and the site url set to the root.
Works perfectly for all but WPDM.
Download links will still use /wp in the url.
This is what i get as download link: http://ffk.se/wp/download/fig-video/
If i click it I get http://ffk.se/wpdmpro/wpdmpro/ and a blank page
This url is correct and works: http://ffk.se/download/fig-video/
BTW: I can’t store any descriptions. Not sure if it’s the same problem or another…

For one one of the documents on my website I require both a password and an email subscription. With the email subscription in 3.8.8 I was able to ask for the name, company, and email address. I upgraded to 4.0.0RC2 because in 3.8.8 challenging for a download stopped working altogether.
I have Link Template set to : Call to Action 1
I have Page Template set to: Single Column, Flat
Problem 1 – Under the lock option tabs under package settings, selected “enable password lock” type in password. Update Page, view – There is a download button on the page which works when you type in the correct password. There is also a download link on the page (P1A – there should be one of these not both) which when you click on it asks for a password, typing in the correct password gives you an error message (P1B). If you then go to custom fields and select the “password_lock” custom field it works. I would like to see the link disappear from the page and have only the button I defined.
Problem 2 – Next I turned off password lock in the page options and deleted it from the Customer Fields. Enabled email lock which comes up with a message “Will ask for email (and checked customer data) before download. However, unlike 3.8.8, there is no way to add custom data. There is nothing more than this message (Problem 2A).
Now, preview the page and I still have the button for download which is asking for a password. However, this should be gone now since it was deselected (P2B).
The download link (not a button, just text) does ask you to subscribe for download and does work. However, I would expect the call to action now to be “subscribe” with a button and a place to enter email address. P2C
Problem 3 – Next it gets real fun. Enable both Password Lock and Email Lock only in Package Settings. I of course still have my password field with the download button. Entering the password and clicking on the download button results in an immediate download instead of also asking for an email address and email the link to the download (P3A).
Clicking on the “download link” brings up a dialog box to enter a password and has a submit button as well as e field to enter an email and a subscribe button. There should be two requests and one button (P3B).
Entering in the password results in a “wrong password” error message until you then also create a Custom Field with the password in it. (P3C – must only create this password in one place).
Once the custom field is in place typing in the password results in a file being downloaded called “invalid-link.txt”. This will cause phone calls and emails from people trying to get to the file. (P3D).
It also results in a new download button coming up that only downloads the error message (P3E).
If you then do enter your email address a link will be sent with the proper download link.
Bottom line on Problem 3 is when both Password lock and email lock are enabled you should be asked for all the criteria directly on the page and then have a subscribe/submit button. Also that link on the page shouldn’t be there…there should only be the buttons.
