    Hello Shahjada,

Once again, thank you so much for a very quick reply and solution, I can confirm that following your last instruction did get everything back working fine.

However, sadly it does not do what we need, and what the OP needs, which is to be able to remove the /download/ (or /downloads/) from the URL.

Perhaps it might help if I explain our situation better…..

We have had (for many, many years) a page titled “Downloads” (in our URL, it was http://www.oursite.com/downloads) on that page we initially just listed links to certain pages (posts, actually), each that had a blurb and something to download…it might be a user guide, or a map, or whatever, and the URL was “www.oursite.com/maps/thismap.pdf” or “www.oursite.com/user-guides/myguide.pdf”. Each individual page was optimized for that asset, and our main “Downloads” page was just a listing of links to those pages by category.

Then a few years ago my boss said “we need to track how many people download those” so we switched to using a plugin, Download Monitor, which worked great, although it was a huge amount of work to move all our assets into it and swap out the links, but it worked.

Then recently my boss said “we need to let visitors VIEW the download first, or print it, before they decide if they want to download it”. Great. Download Monitor won’t do that, so I searched for weeks and tested many other plugins, before settling on yours – it’s truly a great plugin – BUT we discovered after installing it and migrating all our downloads from Download Monitor into yours, that it added the /downloads/ into the URL and our main Downloads page no longer worked.

So from the WP forum for the free version I was directed to the Pro version and told the Pro version would allow me to set the URL base myself.

I need to be able to keep ONLY the category name in the URL – that is how our downloads have been indexed for years and I really don’t want to do redirects. I like that your plugin uses custom category so it could import the categories from Download Monitor also (that process was super-simple and very smooth). 🙂

BUT we’ve also always used post_tags to associate assets with content – so if I have a post about a product, and I have a user guide for that product, they get associated to the same page by tagging them both with the same post_tag.

Since your plugin does not support using post_tags (you’ve removed that support on line 315 of the current version 6.3.3) which I had to change that line from “false” to “true” and comment out line 369 (so that the custom tags are not registered), and I keep good notes so that if/when I update to the next version I can make those changes again (I would encourage you to consider adding that as a choice to the Settings, to enable or disable support for Post Tags and maybe even other users might like support for Post Categories).

I deeply appreciate your ongoing help to figure out this URL base thing, I’ve already spent weeks on this project and my boss is pressuring me to get our assets back online and available because it was a significant source of our traffic and it’s dropping every day I don’t have my downloads back.

The shortcode below worked as I wanted prior to upgrade to 6.3.2:

    [wpdm_my_downloads login=1 template=link-template-widget cols=2]

It showed a filter based on categories on the left side. It showed all packages belonging to the categories where the user is a member of.

Now it only shows packages, where the user is mentioned in the members. It does not show packages belonging to the categories, of which the user is a member. It looks broken to me.

    [wpdm_all_packages login=1 thumb=1 order_by=date]

shows packages as expected, but unfortunately it has no category filter.

Please let me know how to get the previous functionality back.

I’m trying to import downloads using a CSV (based on the template) as each package has a lot of categories in the CSV, which I don’t want to manually deal with. I’m trying with a test CSV of just one package but it hangs at 1% and doesn’t do anything. I’ve tried in a staging site with all other plugins deactivated and the same happens.

    Hello @Goode,

    Thanks for your reply.

It will allow assigning specific logged in users of your site for those downloads that will be hidden for non-logged in users.
but lock will not be used in this way. We don’t have any user based lock feature.

You can contact for customization service here.

    Really?

Its extreminly slow especially within the Downloads section.

If you try to create a new download package, the page can take upto 2 minutes for it to appear.

We have the Downloads Manager Pro plug in and our downloads over the pass few days have started to take forever over several minutes to load.

We have version 6.2.6 but on the site it looks like there are 5 versions ahead of us up to 3.6.1 which doesn’t seem available to us in our plug in updates. Wondering if this is potentially why the system is so slow?

Would be great if someone could contact us to advise if they can help as to why the downloads are taking an age to load for front and back end users.

Yes, table is not available anymore. But “Adding New Payment Gateway” doc will work fine. All these here https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/downloads/payment-gateways/ are custom payment gateways.

    Hi,

I would like to create a page that only shows a specific cateogry of my downloads with still having all the filter options (including the other categories) available in case the user would like to add another category to their search. Is this possible to accomplish? and how would I go about it?

    thank you.

    Hello Tanvir,

just one feature request for all versions of the download manager: due to security reasons (security by default) it would be good if the default value for the access rights to a new document would be “none”. I think most people who use the downloads manager have in mind to restrict the access to a document.

If now an editor forgets explicitly to restrict the access rights, it may be a security problem if suddenly the documents will appear without any restriction or they may appear in the google index.

Just as a suggestion for further versions.

    Thanks and best regards,
    Stefan

    Hello Cam E,

Hope you are well. For hiding/restricting downloads files/packages to certain user roles, you can give access to those roles from your files/packages Package Settings > Allow Access section. And if you are using the PRO version of WPDM you can check this option too from When user is not allowed to download > Hide Everything option as I image attached,

    hide-every

I hope you have understood now. Please check and let me know

    Thank you and regards

not necessarily. You can clone link-template-calltoaction4.php to create a copy of that template from wp-admin menu ► downloads ► templates and update texts, then use the new template with your shortcode.

    Hello,
I rebuilt my site last year, re-made all of my several hundred downloads and everything has been working fine until…I’ve updated plugins in the last month or so. I have a new download file to add and I’m getting errors when I try work with this new file, ‘No File Attached With The Package’ if you click the file title or Download button for the new download file I’ve added. The one I’m having trouble with is ‘VRWP Installation Instructions’. You can get to it by clicking on ‘Installation Instructions’ in the head area from this page:
    https://www.evenlite.com/downloads/

You can see too, that the icon is not loading correctly either. I know I can go and choose the icon on the file download page, but I’ve not had to to that before.

When I add a new file to link to by clicking ‘Select From Server’ in the dashboard, it says {{path on}} under the file name until I save/update the page and it refreshes. After that, there isn’t anything listed under there. Older files I’ve set up will show the file path to follow.

I know the file is just fine. Here’s a link to it’s direct path:
    http://evenlite.com/Downloads/installation-instructions/VRWP-Installation-Instruction.pdf

Do you have any suggestions? Thanks,
    Brett

For updating the WPDM PRO main plugin, Please simply click the Save Settings again for the license key option from Downloads > Settings > License, and then please update the plugin from the wp-admin > plugins panel.

Alternatively, You can also download them from here. And you can upload and install it as a normal plugin.

please check and let me know

    Thank you and regards

    Hi Friends,

I’m using Loco translate with Download manager pro, however, some strings are missing, so the frontend translation is partially.
you can see an example here:

    מסמכים וכלי עזר להורדה

I’ve translated the words downloads, or Downloads.
and for example the “View more” option, I don’t even see it on the strings for translation.
    Can you please advise?

    Best regards
    Raphael

    Ok that worked!

One more question, under the My Downloads we now see the files and the download button. How do we enable the “Lock” feature as we have a terms and conditions they must check prior to downloading. Note, that if you click the filename there are 2 download buttons. One large one in the top left (this one has the lock displaying when you click it). The other is a small download button on the right which does not require the lock popup once you click it.

Hi there. Wanted to check back in. It seems like this issue continues to grow despite no changes on my end. In speaking to our Content Manager, she said she used to pull reports of downloads by user and only had a few lines of “Guest” that she would just remove. Her latest export showed 765, so they are increasing even though we are using SSO and all users have access levels assigned.

Our Content Manager did mention that when she looked at the backend after downloading things herself, it appeared that it would show her name once or twice, but every download she did after that would show as “Guest” even though she knew it was her. Seems like that is a trend where there will be 2 downloads from the same person followed by several “Guest” downloads. Knowing that, it seems like a glitch within Download Manager and not something that I have done.

Also, if we add a specific user to access a single package file, it will show up in their dashboard under My Downloads, however we have over 500 users so when we add a file, we can’t be expected to add each user individually. That is why we want to just assign a category of packages to a role so that anyone of that role will see all the downloads for that category.

    Hello,

We have WPDM Pro as well as Adv Access Control setup. We setup a downloads category that we want all users of a specific custom Role to access. When we setup the category to allow access to the specific role, users of that role do not see the downloads in that category show up under their “My Downloads” section of their account on the frontend.

    That’s correct, Nayeem

My client provides roughly 30 download packages to their memebers with multiple files in them. Once a member downloads a file from within a package, it should be listed in the recent downloads section of the user profile. C

Currently I only get a repeat of the same package name. If say, a package contains 10 files and a member downloads 5 files individually from one package, the package name is listed 5 times. This doesn’t give a member a whole lot of information about what he actually downloaded.

    Regards
