Hello Shaon
You already suggested that (March 21 on this topic) , I bought it and already tried it. It takes too much time to create a group, they don’t need all the extras that come with it. It is too complicated for such simple needs.
It seems downloads manager is not using standard wordpress groups capabilities ?

Thanks for the clarification Shaon. If that is the case then it seems that ‘Bulk Import > Import Selected Files’ feature is not working properly. The following are the results that I get.
– Uploaded files via FTP to a folder other than ‘download-manager-files’.
– Added the files to WPDM via the ‘Bulk Import > Import Selected Files’ tool.
– The added files did NOT get moved from the upload folder to the ‘download-manager-files’.
– The added files DID show up in ‘Downloads > All Packages’ with the correct ‘file format icon’ (except PNG files) and Categories assigned to the files, however…
– The added files show an error (file-not-found.txt) when a user attempts to download them, because the ‘new’ file path shows the files were moved to ‘download-manager-files’, but the files were not actually moved.Any ideas on how to correct this issue? Thanks!

@Shaon – I am not sure what to make of this. I imported 2000+ files in the exact same way. All of these files have been in the same place long before we began using this plugin. I used the bulk importer for every single file and it created a post in the Downloads custom post type for each file – none of these posts were made manually.
How is it that some work and some (most) do not work? I don’t mind trying to reimport everything again but clearly there is a bug somewhere in the process because none of the files have been moved as you had suggested.

Hi Download Manager! I’m a very happy user of your product but have recently started running into problems. When ever I try and view all the downloads on my site via the “Downloads” tab (on the admin side of things) I get an Internal Server Error.
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.Please contact the server administrator to inform of the time the error occurred and of anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
The same is happening for pages on my site containing file category lists.

I’m back on this project again.
I set both the ‘wp-content/plugins/download-manager’ AND ‘wp-content/plugins/download-manager/cache’ folders to 777 and did another test upload but the results are the same. It did not fix the issue. My process is this.

I would like to edit the way the initial download list is displayed.
I have found the relevant file in download-manager/wpdm-all-downloads.php
but I don’t want to edit core files.
Is there anyway of changing this either in my child theme or in admin?

is there a way to solve this problem? I cant use the manager like this. I bought pro because i thought its a nice add on to manage all my downloads, but if this isnt gonna work, i have a problem. Gantry is used on a lot of sites. A lot. And i cant fins anything that there are problems with it. I also bought the archive page add on. a pitty that there isn’t something to get it working. Isnt there a way to get it working???

all add-on pack has lots of add-ons with additional features, but, if you want to show all packaged in a page, [wpdm-all-downloads] should work fine for you, but if you want any specific style there, there may require some customized link template, however please give me a temporary wp-admin login info, I can make one for you.

It should never mess up with post category, as just the labels are same, but the url slug and taxonomy slug is totally different and also url structure fot post category and wpdm category are totally different except you use same slug in settings option, in that case, use a different url slug for wpdm category in Admin Menu Downloads Settings page .
Yes, in menu manager it may looks like little confusing because of same label, but on expand user will understand seeing category names.

I see all downloads are working fine. However, when you select a file from browser it shown full path only in admin, because, file can be selected form anywhere in server, need to see full path to get exact location. But when you upload file always stores in same dir, so, don’t need to show full path their, as it is always same.
Ah please help. I changed URL from development Site to go live and now all downloads stopped working! I need fast help 🙁 When I click a file a new browser tab opens with a lot of cryptic signs…. is there a way to solve this?

Download Manager Pro – 4.2.1
WPDM – Default Values – 1.2.0
Last Updated – We recently upgraded both plugins on April 4.Our IE8 users are unable to download individual files or zipped packages in our production environment. Users receive the error in the attached screenshot. I can successfully reproduce the issue on multiple machines.
I can successfully download a file directly via the uploads folder path – e.g domain.com/wp-content/uploads/download-manager-files/file-name.ext.
Downloads in IE8 work in our staging environment with the only difference being – production is https and staging is not.
We have NOT had this issue with the previous or any other version of WPDM in the same sever configuration on the same host.
Steps taken so far:
Checked permissions – folder – 775, files – 644
Disabled/activated WPDM
Disabled/activated WPDM Default Settings
Disabled all other installed plugins individually and tested between reactivating each
Saved permalinks
Cleared the server cacheNote: To resolve and get production working again I had to roll back to version 4.1.8.

Someone enters the ‘software’ section of my website
The first page they see is a page where people can find the most viewed downloads/packages of every software category.
There are 4 (or more) categories within software.
Within a category, there are different kinds of varieties of a typical software and within each variety there are different versions.
When you click on a version, you can find different kinds of downloads relevant to the version. For instance:Breadcrum: Software > Softwarecategory1 > Softwarevariety1 > Softwareversion100.1
Softwareversion100.1 has 4 (or more) different Files that can be downloaded

Something.zip.
Releasenotes.txtEach file has some fields attached to it. Last modified, size and so forth.

My question is how can I add information about individual downloads or can I fix it in another way?
I know I can add custom fields to a package. But as you can see I need to add information to each individual file that is downloadable within the package.What is the easiest and quickest way to accomplish this?

SHide everything option only hide descriptions and download link, but titles are totally depends on your theme. As you are using custom access level you can use short-code [wpdm_my_downloads login=1] to create dedicated page for use downloads.
Topic: Very stuck
I have been trying for days to get the plugin to do what I need with no luck.
I want to upload many images in a certain category. Then I want to show each downloadable image in that category. For each image I want to show a large featured image (not full size but large), a description of that download, a tag and an icon that downloads the full size image.
Ideally I would like to add code that will enable me to do this automatically for each downloadable image in that category.
Please help.
