No, It is a WordPress default feature, If you want to restrict download packages with user roles, you can do it by Allow Access option by giving access to certain users. There is also available bulk apply option for all packages, the add on called, https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/wpdm-default-values/

If you are using [audio_player_single] then you can edit it from as I image attached

after adjusting width and height, please adjust like,

.w3eden button.wpdm-btn-play-lg.wpdm-btn-play {
    width: 36px !important;
    height: 36px !important;
}

make it !important and then put it in theme style.css. After that hard reload the page or if you are using windows operating system press CTRL + F5 for getting the desired result. let me know.

The template you are using in free like default template, then you can copy the code of the template, thus you can paste it in download manager in the same path download-manager/tpls/page-template-default.php if there any minor adjustment remain, it will be replaced by the old one. you can do it for other templates too.

Free and PRO templates are mostly the same. If you have any confusion among them you can adjust it from Downloads > Settings > User Interface switching bootstrap version. And the preferable another way you can replace one to other code within the templates. you can also follow, https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/doc/template-files/ this doc for saving the templates for the future up-gradation of the plugin. let me know.

You have other options too. please check the doc, https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/doc/short-codes/wpdm_reg_form-user-registration-form-short-code. For shortcode [wpdm_reg_form captcha=true|false verifyemail=true|false autologin=true|false logo="Logo Image URL"], you have the parameter,

verifyemail:: optional, the default value is true, if the value is false, it shows the password field with registration form and doesn’t send verification email, otherwise, it doesn’t show the password field and send the password to registered email.
autologin:: optional, default value is “false” when “verifyemail” is true, the default value is “true” when “verifyemail” is 0, after registration, it will auto-login when the value is true otherwise redirect to the login page.
