You can show modal login form from setting up Downloads > Settings > Frontend Access > Front-end Settings, you have to enable the login form, Enable modal login form. For windows operating system CTRL + L will show the modal login form. Please follow these steps below for updating the Plugin for now,

1 ) Deactivate and delete the old version. You won’t lose any data.
2 ) Download latest version from here https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/user-dashboard/?udb_page=purchases
3 ) Install the latest version and activate the license key.

To enable the auto-update, login to your WPDM account from the Downloads > Settings > License tab. If login is successful and you have an active subscription then you can update the future releases right from your plugins page.

For #1, The download/purchase label of the packages shortcode Buy by default in nature. for modifying it, it needs customizing the file.

For #2, The errors are coming maybe there some conflicts with other plugins, you can check to enable/disable them.

For #3, For download links in the email, you should use [#download_url#]
