That sounds ideal. Thanks for your consideration!

Shahriar,

Thank you. Just so that we are completely clear, my members are already imported into my sites.

So I should be able to bulk edit their roles to add them to plans, right?

But I do need to be able to set their renewal dates. I will do that one by one if I really need to. Right now I can’t edit the renewal dates.

Basically, I need to:
– Add about 10,000 members to my free plan, by editing their roles.
– Add about 700 members to paid plans.
– Edit the renewal dates of about 300 members.

Many thanks,
Mike

PS can it be optional in the package whether the mp3 can be downloaded? Or will it prevent all mp3 downloads? If there is no option I prefer that they can’t download the mp3 but it would be better if I have an option to allow or not. Thanks.

Shahriar,

Thank you. I thought about it and I can understand why you could have performance issues and your new way is more efficient.

In my theme I will implement the code you mentioned in the other thread. I’m posting it here for other members to see it:

Importing thousands of files

Will you be able to find a way to do this without the theme edit because I suppose it will potentially affect other WPDM customers to have the path visible?

Many thanks,
DesignServe

PS I will really need that renewal date feature before I can launch, I can’t afford to give them all an extra year. Thanks

Shahriar,

The Plan is called “Lifetime”. The word Paid is coming from somewhere else, do you know where?

Many thanks,
Mike

It is mentioned in this blog and not prominent either.

WordPress Download Manager Pro v4.9.1 is available for download now

My post, waiting for an answer.

Importing thousands of files

Honestly, I’m sorry to be blunt but I was expecting faster support or better documentation here, it is taking me a very long time to set up my sites which is making me start to think again about my purchase because I don’t have much time available for it. I think the functionality is really good overall but there isn’t enough explanation or information for new users, I’m starting to feel frustrated WPDM.

I noticed this recently and I came across a release note that tells us the functionality has changed in the last release.

That is really unexpected and doesn’t suit me. I very recently bought into all addons and 5 wpdm pros and that’s a feature I had read about.

In my opinion it needs to be made an optional setting now, so that it suits everyone.

It’s bad form to introduce a quite major change like this (major for some people) without explicitly informing customers in advance.

Thank you, I’m trying out all these options and having some success. Bulk import from a dir is very easy but it adds the name of the dir as part of the file name, which looks very unusual and also gives a clue about what the dir name is.

When importing from a dir I was expecting the files to be moved to an anonymised directory but they are still in the original place. So I have to leave them there? If so, I will have to think of some better directory names because I used “IMPORT”, expecting the files to be moved (which would be a good feature by the way).

At the moment it is easy to guess the file path from the folder name, and I can hot link to the files (even though I have the addon to block hotlinking active, so I have to try to find a way to avoid that. Any ideas?

Many thanks,
DesignServe

Hi Shahriar,

Thank you, that is very useful I didn’t realise the option was already included. I have a few queries:

1 – When the package is free to a particular Plan, the user goes through a purchase process but it still shows Paypal option in the checkout. Could it be made to not show any payment processor when the file is free?

2 – I used the order ID as the password to open the PDF (ie I left the field blank). It is quite difficult for the user to select the order ID to copy it because it is a link. Could it be added somewhere as an easily selectable ‘password’, to make things more clear.

3 – I would prefer if the user had to enter their website password or email address to open the file (because they won’t want to share that information with someone else). Could that be implemented in PDF stamper?

4 – Because this PDF (for example) is available for free to some plans, it can be downloaded without going through the PDF stamper process by using the link in “Membership Items”. Can that be avoided so that any download of the PDF always goes through PDF stamper?

Many thanks,
DesignServe

PS I really like the new look of your website and how it is developing. Some of the documentation doesn’t have much detail, can we assume it is in progress? Thanks.

Thank you. I had not figured it out, the page just has an image on it. I will get to try this out very soon. Thanks for your other responses which are helping me to plan my site too.

I have resolved this by putting the shortcode within a container in my theme. This prevents the theme from interfering with it. Thanks
