Hi Shahjada,

Thank you. Adding that option will make a huge difference for me on multiple sites.

Adding a Free Download won’t achieve the same results in this case.

I’ll leave this topic open until the option is added.

Many thanks,
Mike

Hi Shahriar,

If the cost of the product is zero, we see the download link but the viewer doesn’t display the file. Shouldn’t it show the file if it is zero cost?

This is on one of my sub-sites I’m setting up. I prefer not to deactivate Premium Package because I will have some items I want to sell on the site.

https://www.yamahastylesgroup.com/download/roddy_mccawley-pdf/

There will be a lot of free PDFs on there but the members must still be logged in to see them. Some zero cost, some paid for. Any ideas for me?

Maybe a template with a different shortcode if the viewing is free? On my main site I’ve edited every PDF using a different plugin in the Download post description, it is very time-consuming so I’m trying to find a quicker way.

I’m testing the other things we have been discussing, I haven’t had much time to do the testing lately.

Many thanks,
Mike

Hi Shahriar,

On my site since the beginning PDFs only get stamped if they go through the cart. This is the reason I was forcing all members through the cart even for free files. I raised a support topic many months ago because it was working like this, and your colleague answered that PDFs have to go through the cart to be stamped. Any type of PDF that doesn’t go through the cart doesn’t get stamped.

I’ve tried so many ways. Now, I don’t have files going through the cart (only for guests). So the members download according to their membership level but there’s no stamping.

Of course, maybe I have a setting wrong. Also, you have helped me with so many changes to my site over the months perhaps something else is affecting it by now.

If you can help me to figure that out it would be brilliant.

Thanks,
Mike

To try to help if someone is struggling – I had the same issue but only with Gutenburg. I don’t use Gutenburg generally. The categories are there in the Classic Editor so I used that.

Hi Valerie,

Forgive me for joining in if I’m wrong (I’m a WPDM user, not support). I don’t think this is due to WPDM. Your site is semi-secure on the front end (HTTPS) and the login is redirecting to non-secure (HTTP). I think you need to address your SSL settings to fix the issue. I’m not certain, but your login should be secured anyway. I had a similar issue on one of my sites.

Hope it helps,
Mike

in reply to: Member buy access to videos #113888

Hi Shahriar,

I’ll try to explain what I’m trying to do, I hope you can help.

On the Package page I want to show a short demo video, which is part of a series. All visitors and members should be able to play the demo video.

After they buy the video package, I want the buyer to be able to watch the whole series of videos on my website (On the package page, or some other page?). They should be able to watch them on my site but not to be able to download. There might be 20 or 30 videos in the series. When they buy the package they get to view them all (but not download).

What is a good method for this please?

Thanks,
Mike

PS initially it will come up with a long series of columns for whatever you are editing. Then, you can tell it to search your database for more columns. Then, you take some time to add and remove (hide) columns that you aren’t interested in editing. Right-click on headings and many other things to find additional features. Select a cell and drag up or down (like in excel) to fill adjacent cells with the same information.

A good example – Edit your downloads (posts). Then search for specific ones you want to edit by name or template type (or anything). You can then change the price, template, link template or whatever you want to edit individually. Or, edit one cell (a link template for example) and drag to apply that link template to many items (hundreds if you like).

When you save, it saves a few at a time. It doesn’t overload your server.

Check your edited downloads afterwards. Occasionally it misses saving one or two. Usually, there’s a reason for that such as a secure PDF or some anomaly.

Yes that is the one. It has saved me hours and hours in editing.

Make sure you get the free plugin that lets you rename columns.

I bought the ‘all access’ version (forget what it is called) which is proving to be very useful in editing Users and Taxonomies as well (generally, anything from anywhere in WordPress). It doesn’t give you access to absolutely everything for WPDM Users yet (such as subscription dates). Taking a user as an example, there are over 100 columns of data that I can edit for each User in my website (depends what’s in your database of course).

There’s a learning curve but if you use Excel you will find it easy. The developer is very responsive and open to change it to accommodate your needs.

Also default values does not work for bulk imports.

I am now using a plugin called WP Sheet Editor Pro to be able to bulk edit most things in WPDM but there needs to be improved bulk editing in WPDM. They already have plugins for other download managers and I’m going to ask them to make one specific to WPDM.

However, I think my suggestion should be a core function so that we can filter packages and edit templates (and hopefully other things) in bulk.
