Hi Jeremiah,

I’m just a user but posting this in case it helps you.

I’ve been having issues with menus and a popup login too. For me, they seem to relate to javascript of other plugins not being compiled correctly rather than WPDM but the combination appears to expose the errors.

I find the following plugin extremely useful in tracing any problems:

https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/query-monitor/

In my case, one of the issues that I haven’t fully resolved is tracking back to modernizr.js and an interaction with jquery. I can’t tell if that’s the case on your site, I don’t have that level of expertise (I’m a musician not a programmer 🙂
Hope it may help.
Mike

I’ve just seen your post, I was writing mine when you sent it. I’m feeling much happier with the system now and I think you should persevere with support discussions. WPDM support seems to be very busy, try to tackle the biggest issues you have in bite-sized chunks (just my thoughts and not really my business). My previous reply is private only because I included my email address. Best wishes.

WPDM, Please mark this topic resolved if you have fixed the “You Are Not Allowed to Download” button from letting everybody download. I will then test if it is fixed in my site and I’ll open another ticket if there are still problems.

It seems to me that if I select Settings > Frontend Access > Login page and I set a login page, that works.

However, if I change it later to “None Selected” because I don’t want it anymore, it is still there.

I will test this more and I’ll respond to this topic with results. So I will leave the topic open for now.

You should also come up with a way of exporting and importing Plans.

I have resolved this by manually copying everything from one site to another.

It is important for you (WPDM) to note that in a multisite the ID of the plans must be the same in the sub-sites. Due to that, I think it is important for you to enable the ID of the plan to be set from inside the plugin because if we get the order wrong, after adding a few plans it will be impossible to keep subsites synchronised.

I understand how this works now. How can I add another teg that performs this function please? So that I can leave the `[file_list]’ tag alone and it will perform as intended? I can then put the new tag into templates when I want to prevent the audio from downloading. I hope that might be possible and not very difficult for you? Thanks

I have stopped using the review plugin because anybody can leave spam reviews (it is not restricted to people who downloaded the item) and I can’t run the captur off, please let me know if you update it.

Ok thank you. I understand it now so I’ll be able to do what I need. I thought wpdm has separate tegs before.

Thanks I can do that. Is the name stored in normal WP database name fields or is it entirely separate for WPDM?

Thanks for those thoughts.

I believe in extreme support. My hobby website has 11,000 members and any one of them would tell you that.

One of the main reasons I chose WPDM is because their support is in a public forum. That impresses me (when people do that) because it generally means they have complete self-belief.

I’m used to support being a conversation where responses go back and forth over the period of an hour or so, to resolve issues. It shows due concern and regard for another person’s stress.

If there was documentation, I could teach myself. Screenshots are not documentation. Instead of posting 50,000 replies WPDM, please write docs.

I like the system. I like the concept and I really believe that it is coded fairly well. The whole thing has to live in a vast ecosystem of other plugins. Most often, I find that the problem is either my misunderstanding or a plugin conflict.

However, I now spend all of my free time trying to fix my website instead of supporting my members. I have a hundred questions but I’m waiting for responses to twenty that haven’t been fully answered before I can ask more.

I will give it another couple of weeks. I am really enjoying using the system but my personal expertise is not up to fixing the issues without help. I run a music website so I’m far more interested in music than all this coding malarky.

Cheers.

Replying so that I can monitor the thread. Thank you for adding detailed information.

It is on the following page. However, I have deleted all the other tags from my site so that they don’t mix in with wpdm tags for now.

I’m using this:

[wpdm-tags cols="4" icon="tag" btnstyle="default"]

If you think it is correct I’ll do some more testing. Maybe I have imported some tags and they have registered as wpdm tags, it’s the only thing I can think of if you say they normally only show wpdm tags.

Shahriar,

I’ve been thinking very hard about this. I truly appreciate your response above. However, the tags taxonomy is very important to my site. It is used to show Members many items (not just downloads) that are compatible with their instruments and it is extremely complex to set up.

What I really need is to be able to identify Download Packages that are tagged with the normal tags. So that when I go to Downloads category or I list Downloads tags etc using your shortcodes, it only lists Downloads.

What I mean is, when I use your shortcodes it should only list Download Packages. So if I use your shortcode for tags, it should show downloads with those tags. if I use your shortcode for categories, it should show downloads with those categories. It is the association of a normal wordpress tag plus a Download Package that is the important association.

I hope you understand what I mean. If I create a new ‘download tags’ custom taxonomy facility then I will have hundreds of duplicated tags in my site and the members will get extremely confused.

I hope you can help with this.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Shahriar,

Yes. I’m wondering how I can collect both names. Any ideas?
