probably the link template is not using [icon] tag, however you can clone the icon to create new one, replave [thumb_WxH] tag with [icon] tag and use the new template, then you will see the selected icon

#1. ok now, there was a javascript issue, your theme messing up inline js code, however I’ve fixed it adding priority for the _content filter in hooks.php , replaced add_filter('the_content', 'wpdm_downloadable'); with add_filter('the_content', 'wpdm_downloadable', 999999); .

ok now, I had to remove @ob_end_clean(); from functions.php

“function.session_start.duration exceeded 200ms” <-- this could be something related to your server, nothing to do with wpdm pro actually, please ask server/hosting support. /download-manager/download-manager.php:15 calls session_start function, that's a php function to initiate session, it doesn't cuase any issue except server blocking it, but the conflict with event calendar is different thing and it need to adjusted within the event calendar plugin code.
