Please download and install this add-on http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/wpdm-api/ , after activate the add-on, you will see api key in download manager settings page.

Original customization specs is actually completed and nothing is missing there, for further customization, you need to mail to customize@wpdownloadmanager.com
As I see some images like http://downloadsermon.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/just-believe1.jpg are missing somehow. However if you select an image again, it will show properly.
replace the_url_download with __wpdm_files and http://download.com/file.zip with a serialized array('http://download.com/file.zip')
