ok now. Problem was with v4.2.2, the option was not staying selected, anyhow we have adjusted it for next update.
In that case please download premium package add-on from here http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/premium-package/ , then install and active. Now if you install and activate stripe add-on, you can see stripe settings under Downloads Settings Premium Package Payment Gateways tab.

then it could be a servers php execution timeout issue, please contact your server/hosting support about the issue, wpdm does’t have any issue with large file.
It is your theme, you theme adding a css globally which affecting that dropdown. Please ask theme developer to adjust it.
Actually accordion and default value add-on are not related, also accordion add-on doesn’t use link template, however I’m adding link template support with the next update of accordion add-on.
