@agd, If you attach a file as URL or attach a file from the media library the file location will not be hidden. Instead, attach a file by directly uploading from wpdm or attach a file using the server file picker.

Allow access option is perfectly functional, only allowed users will be able to download. If you want to make a package login protected or members only, select all user roles here except “All Visitors”.Additionally allowed/selected roles from associated categories will be merged with package access. For example “Category A” and “Category B” selected for “Package P” from “Categories” meta box, “Subscribers” has access to “Category A”, “Editors” has access to “Category B”, “Authors” is selected for “Allow Access” field in “Package P”.

The license key will work with the latest version of wpdm pro. Please follow the steps to upgrade:
1. Deactivate and Delete the old version Admin Menu ► Plugins
2. Download the latest version from https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/user-dashboard/?udb_page=purchases
3. Install and activate the latest version
4. Done! ( The process will not harm your old data/settings )
From the next update, you will be able to use the automatic upgrade as usual.

However, if you are already using the latest version, probably your server firewall is blocking wpdownloadmanager.com.

That will require customization for the step to mail password and set the password. Alternatively, if your purpose is to keep the download request pending until you approve or decline it, you can use the email lock. There you can set the settings to do that.
