I can upload an new file and get a secure download link. So far so good.
But when I go back to the File Manager -> Manage and click on Edit for an item, the access settings is always “All visitors” even when I set it to “Members Only” when I last save (i.e. the function that displays the settings of the item doesn’t seem to read the current access value).
So, if I click on edit for an item that was previously set to access=”Members Only”, and simply click save, it automatically reverts to All Visitors. The items should retain all existing settings. As it is, I must remember previous settings and check them all, because I can’t trust which one are set to their previous or default value in the edit dialog. If I edit an entry I must validate every settings before I save it again to ensure nothing has been changed that I didn’t expect.
Also, following on my previous post, It would be useful to have the “Download Controller Insert Package or Category” dialog include a setting to insert either the Title or Link Label as displayed text, linked to the download URL (e.g. “simple link”).
This is a very useful plugin (as far as I know, there is NOTHING similar to this and it is critical to folks who want to restrict access to downloaded documents). I’m very much in favor of supporting your effort to the extent our club can, and would love to see the ability to quickly link to a secure file. The use case seems straightforward: most content on our site is publicly available; but some of it needs to be restricted by log in; unfortunately WordPress built-in access controls only work for pages and posts, not for files.
Thanks again, Shaon, for a great and valuable addition to WordPress – I have spent hours looking for the appropriate controls and this is the closest I can find! I can use it as is, but it’s not secure/tight enough for me to hand over upload of new secure content to the club staff.
I you want details of the use case, please email to my private email address.

Hey Admin,
Great work on the plugin :). Unfortunately, I stumbled across two problems:
1) When I updated a link to one of the downloads, it went from ….download/6 to ….download/iran-lake-data/. This caused an error, a shortcode with no single download page, please see the page here: http://www.swatcupiran.com/download/iran-lake-data/
2) On another page whose package I didn’t update, the download url became like the one above, but then the formatting became messed up with the theme =\ see this link here: http://www.swatcupiran.com/download/2/Can you please help me to resolve these two problems? Thank you!
Regards,
SufiMy wp is in a subdirectory but I recently change the site URL to the root. Download Manager (pro) correctly displays my download list but when clicking the link to the download page for the item, the subdirectory shows in the URL and I get an empty template page. I have looked in the database for file links but have not found one that I can change to correct the problem. How can I update or change wpdm to recognize the URL change?
i am using Download Manager for wallpaper files. Under each image I have a set of four link buttons for various file sizes. They pile up vertically. i would much rather see them in a horizontal row. How can I do that? Thanks.
I am setting up download manager for the first time and the link just opens to a blank page that won’t load.
Here is the page url http://sbeelectricandhvac.com/manuals/
Please help.
I don’t mind if the link opens to a new tab.Okay, I must be daft. For the life of me I can’t find how to update to the latest version. WP just tells me that there is a new version available. I click on the details, come to this site and can’t find a link to do a manual download of the zip.
Help???
Topic: Facebook LOCK Not working.
I see this info from another thread.
1) you need to add FB id, use “Link Template Embedded” and page template = “Single Column, Image Top, Extended” in case of facebook like lock
I don’t want to use some other template for the page or link. I want to use the one I created for myself.
Please visist http://stealthfiction.com/daylight-dims/ and try the link that says DOWNLOAD FREE PDF to see what’s going on.
Twitter doesn’t work either. It posts the message but then it never downloads the file.
I plan on using DLMgr to restrict access to some file on my website (http://portlandyc.com) to members only. For this purpose, I would like the downloads to appear as simple links (i.e. without the download button or box). Is this possible?
