I want to send a link to a PDF file to multiple e-mail recipients but would like them to enter their e-mail address before download. I also don’t want to have a wepbage which contains a download link due to the nature of the PDF file. Is it possible?

I have installed the WPDM and created a new package with default templates.
When clicking on the download button I get the screenshot attached. I have set it up to collect the e-mail address details before download.

it will happen if you are using block hotlink add-on. Block hot link add-on block direct access to download link. You need to deactivate block hotlink add-on in that case.

i’d like to “copy” a download link and use it in an external site. When the visitor click on the download link in the external site, the download must start from the site where WPDM is.
Example:
– http://www.sogema.eu/cambiamonete/mini-self-change.html in the external site.
– “Scarica PDF” will be the download link (not now; now links the package page).
– http://www.cashmatic.it/?wpdmdl=1 is the download url i want to use.
But if i copy and paste the http://www.cashmatic.it/?wpdmdl=1 link in my browser, the download won’t start. I’m olny redirected to the http://www.cashmatic.it homepage 🙁
How i must configure the package for my need?
Today I bought WPDM, and after several hours I quitted with a lot of questions

These are my questions
1. after clicking on download and after typing the email adress, the download starts but I can’t read the file (it should be an PDF)
2. I can’t add a third file (which is a “docx”)
3. how/where can I customize the layout of the page and tekst (I want to have it all in Dutch instead of English)
3. how/where can I customize the mail (to the downloader in case i select to send a link by mail)
4. in the manage package menu there is the text “Simply Copy and Paste the embed code at anywhere in post contents”, but where can I copy?
I hope someone can help me

We only just updated the plugin from v3.3.5 to v3.3.8 and the archive add-on v1.7.0 from 1.6.0, and the layout is completely different. All the icons that had been previously chosen for the existing layout now looks awful, and even creating a custom bootstrap thumbnail template to use the 60×60 icon doesn’t help it look any better.
Is there a way to better control the size of each link, and to adjust the pagination? using the [wpdm-archive] shortcode on the downloads page, and nothing we do seems to alter that from anything but 10 items per page.
Also, is there a way to empty the cache from the admin pages? We just realized that there was nearly 2Gb of unnecessary files collected in that cache folder, and the only way to get rid of it was to have an admin go in move the folder because it couldn’t be deleted via FTP, and we couldn’t complete the upgrade process as your instructions state until that was done.
I see that you created a test page. Weird. Cause I used my iPad using the Puffin browser to download using that [wpdm_all_packages] it only downloads the link, but when I use the ordinary by category short code it correctly downloads the file.
However, when I use the Google Chrome browser it says it cannot proceed but when I use the Safari browser it successfully show the pdf file. Is this on my part? Or the browsers doesn’t support the download?
Or will this be fixed IF ever I but the PRO version?

Any idea what’s wrong?

Hi Monnier,
I use it with NextGen 2 and it works like a charm. I just choose the folder I want to offer for download and that’s it. Putting the shortcode under the NextGen gallery shortcode and you can see the link.
What you don’t see are the files in the Download Manager GUI. So when you choose a folder you cannot select the files, only the whole folder. For specific files you still have to chose them via the “file manager” in the Download Manager GUI.

Here’s how to reproduce the problem with the [wpdm_all_packages] shortcode, whenever you click a document, there will be a pop-up, showing the description, then on that pop-up there would be a button for ‘download’ when you click that it will only show a file that has been downloaded not the correct file instead. 1) yes, its an add-on ( http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/wpdm-directory-add-on/ )
2) you can upload all pictures as additional image preview and in page or link template use the tag [gallery_WxH], that will show additional preview thumbnails in gallery format, each image height and with will be same as specified, eg:[gallery_50x30]will show image gallery of additional previews and each image size will be 50px×40px, if users click on any thumb, they will see full image in a modal box
when you are using facebook lock, use link template = link template extended or create a template with tag [download_link_extended] as sometimes facebook like button don’t show at popup but there is nothing to change or fix with code.

Is there a way for a user to see past downloads/history with the ability to redownload the file if they lost it? Very similar to how you have the Members navigation in the upper right black bar with the My Orders Links.

Donkeymusic, I think it would be great for the author to implement filtering, but to do this is a huge amount of coding and CSS.
it would be wonderful to see sorting actually work, searching and filtering go into future releases. i am going to play around with this a bit more today; I’ll post back anything that may be useful in helping us to resolve this name sorting issue. Also, for the record, I did attach a screen capture of my document library, just so you can see what i am dealing with. Cannot provide a link to this library-too sensitive.
Better tested: Google+ lock works, Facebook not.

It’s to much work, I think, to add a line with filter options, it will be to much work, because you must add the Line and there some buttons must appear, you must style them with a lot of css and gthen, the user can order them in the frontdend by name.
My solution, is for the frontednd and not for the backend.
I konw, that the letters in my example are ordered, it orders the files alphabetical.
I have now added my “download-manager/download-manager.php” in the txt format to post #9467.

It’ correct SQL syntax.

The link you show, isnt working with sorting by name and only was until the update earlier this year since then it has not worked and the lack of support from the designer is very limited although they did say they update in April would include this option.
