Okay, thank you, that did work. I set the wpdm_download_link_expiration_limit to 1 in the plock if block.
I would have sworn I tried it with success more than 3 times before, but I must be mistaken since now it only allows 1 time, even if the same user copies the link URL and pastes in a new browser tab.
I can’t expect buyers of my software to register as a user on my site, and I also didn’t want to limit the downloads that 1 person supplying the proper password could download.
I will admit that I got a bit upset here at first, thinking I had purchased a plugin which seemed useless to me. But I am glad you responded with this workaround, and quite promptly I should not hesitate to add.
When a package is unlocked using the password the provided link allows 3 downloads using the URL key.
But, another user can download the package if only you have set All Visitors in allow access field. So, setting some user role will prevent anyone else to download the file in this scenario.
If you want to keep the allow access field to ‘All Visitors’ and still want to allow only 1 download after password unlock, then you have to change the limit manually from /download-manager/wpdm-functions.php file. Set the indicated value to 1.
All the the downloads of have made custom templates for are not linking to files. It looks like no files are able to be downloaded at the moment actually.
I’m sorry, that is NOT the case. I can send the link to a completely different user on a different computer using a different browser with absolutely no relationship at all. The link WILL allow this completely different visitor to download the file.
Once it is used by a different visitor, only THEN will it substitute in the ‘link-expired.txt’ file.
I just bought and downloaded version 4.6.8 so I am using the most current version.
Download won’t work for another user even if they have the link from another user. Download Manager checks if current user has access to the package before serving download.
I need to protect my file download, which the reason I purchased this plugin in the first place.
I have enabled password lock, but if a visitor enters the correct password, then a simple green ‘DOWNLOAD’ button is presented, which is just a link containing the master key. This link can be shared, used later, used on a different computer, broadcast on Twitter, etc.
It seems the “Lock Options” are simply a one-time hurdle, which can then be ignored later by anyone with the URL of the button.
Yes, got the issue. WPDM adds a default <div> to wrap the link template. Currently, there is no way to remove it excepting by editing code. You can remove the wrapping div from /download-manager/libs/class.Shrotcodes.phpPackage function.
As subjected, I moved the website from “localhost” local server to online domain and when I click the “download” links they just won’t start, means that I click, “waiting for response” on browser status bar for a few seconds and the loading stops with the download page kind of quickly refresh itself with nothing happening: no download dialog window asking for where to save the file.
The “localhost” version on my PC works fine.
Please note:
– plugin is updated
– extended shortcodes plugin is updated
– wordpress is updated and working fine in all of its parts
– permissions on downloads directory are OK (i even assigned a 777 temporary permission both on files and dirs/subdirs)
– static download links works perfectly (i put one on a download page with full URL and the file is downloaded properly)
– already tried adding a package shortcode on the download page but I get exactly the same problem (download won’t start)
– files were originally added through the “Browse” tool on the download edit page (anyway, as a test, I re-added file once online, the file is regularly attached to download page but download won’t start. files browsing works fine, all the downloads files are there)
– permalinks were correctly saved after moving website to domain (Settings > Permalink)
You can test what I’m saying by accessing this page (just click the “Download” link and nothing will happen).
Can you please help me to find a solution? Which other checks should I do?
Thank you!
I already have a custom template for that called: link-template-aa-custom-link.php, but it closes the paragraph and puts the download link on the next line:
Please add those 2 lines of code at the end of your active theme’s functions.php, visit the homepage for one, then removed those code, that will solve it, however, we are adding those 2 options at wpdm admin settings with the next update of the plugin.
Suddenly and without explanation, users have not been able to open or download package files when using Google Chrome. When clicking the link it takes them to a new page with an error message. They are able to download using IE and other browsers. This problem began with the previous version of WPDM installed and continues after the latest update. Clearing the browser cache does not solve the issue and deactivating all other plugins does not solve it either. The error received is pasted below along with a screenshot. The url is valid and works in other browsers.
Hello, I was having the same problem, where only the shortcodes showed up. I reverted to WordPress 4.8 and the previous version of Download Manager pro, and it works now.
To duplicate the problem, on my staging server. The download links were displaying normally, then I:
1) Updated WordPress 4.8 to 4.8.1.
— Download links still worked.
2) Upgraded Download Manager Pro from 4.6.7 to 4.6.8
— Download links broke, only shortcodes showing up.
The plugin behaves as if it is deactivated because all the menu items in the left side are gone, but the plugin is active.

Do you want to unlock it from there? If you are getting the invalid key issue in this site please update your version of Download Manager there. That should fix it.
It will require 2 hours of customization. We will develop a custom template tag which you can use in your custom link/page template to open pdf in lightbox.
Customization will be delivered as an add-on within 1-2 days.
If you want to proceed, please use the following link to complete the payment. Our customization rate is $75/Hour.
No, there is no option to set link template there. Although you can use you modify the table using your own template ( /download-manager/tpls/wpdm-all-downloads.php ) for this shortcode.
For some reason, although I can open a PDF document in a Lightbox (by adding a certain “class” to the link) from anywhere across my website, all links from WPDownloadManager open either in a new tab or they simply get downloaded to my PC. I tried modifying the dynamic link itself, but I couldn’t achieve the expected result: having the PDF files from WPDM open in a Lightbox.
Attached is a video in which I compare a regular link across my website and the one from WPDownloadManager.
How can I make WPDM links behave the same?
