Thanks for the reply.. .I just need the links to present to users as download options….

for example
“in this page you can download documentA_packageA.pdf or find more information in documentA_packageB.pdf….

For the presentations see documentB_packageA.pdf”

I managed to achieve something like that by creating a page template that shows all the files and use copy link location for each file needed.. I assume this can cause issues in case of logins though..

No, i mean something else.

Every individual file should have two buttons. Preview (for loading the image in a lightbox overlay) and a download-button.

When I uncheck the setting ‘Try to Open in Browser instead of download when someone clicks on download link’, the download-button works fine, but I can’t get the image in a lightbox overlay, because it appears that the ‘download-setting’ overrides it.

I’ve attached a screenshot to clarify it.

I’ve just had chance to get back onto this project and try your fixes. The option for [download_link-popup] styles the popup well, but hides it behind the CSS layer which is no good.

The option for [download_link_extended] shows the popup permanently on the page which is not acceptable to the client.

Can you see the first attachment I have sent and check the site to see why the popup is going behind the CSS layer. I have tried to amend the Z index within the CSS but it isn’t working.

I also attach another screen shot where I have added .modal-backdrop{display:none} into the code. This removes the faded layer from in front so that the popup can be accessed/clicked. It still doesn’t bring it to the top layer though which isn’t right as the site is still scrollable behind, but it’s the only way that I can get the popup to be clickable.

I’ve also tried putting the z index for the header down to 0 – this works for the popup but pushes the header behind everything else; even if you put 0 values against all sections of the template.

I have another comment on this…..

The existing “download history” tab would become much more useful if we could sort by package name, or filter by package name or date or username. Right now it’s just too much information.

The “package vs date” tab is cool, but I can think of two things that would make it more useful for us:

1) option to sort the list by package name (i.e., alpha/asc/desc, rather than the current, seemingly-random order), and

2) if the hover on each # of downloads would display a popup with more details, rather than having to click through.

Right now, with just a number, we don’t know if it’s even worth looking at the details page. If there were a popup on hover, it could show a partial list of users and IPs with a “more” link. For us, this would help because we mainly want to know about logged in users who downloaded. If we saw “none” for users, we would not bother to look further, and could go “hover” on the next one.

“Package vs user” is what I expected we would like the best….but it has never displayed usernames, so it’s not usable at all. Also, it only goes by a single day at a time…..we would prefer to see a month at a time, or even a week. But single days are just too hard to process through.

I realize, of course, that many users probably have way more downloads than we do, so looking at a single day is probably useful for many of your other clients.

My only suggestion for the Monthly Stats tab would be to make selecting a package a bit more intuitive. Right now, that button just takes me to the list of packages, then I have to find one I want to view. If that button had a search box where we could just type in the name of the package (with partial match? 😉 ) then have it display that one without leaving the page, it would be really sweet.

I hope that helps, and look forward to future improvements in data reporting.

Update:

We did a mistake by importing, we used the dsownloadmanager import not the wordpress import function.

But if we import the file with all downloadmanager files I have a few questions about problems which could harm new installation:

• when we import files, what whappens to the downloadmanager ids? What happens when a ID is existing for another page type in the new installation? Or are the downloadmanager ids different to the wordpress core ids?
• what else do we have to move? all .pdfs which are connected to the downloads, but –> do we have to update any permalinks or something else like this?

Maybe you could write us a “roadmap” how to move existing files to the new installation.
