It is not possible with the [download_url]
tag. You have to use the [download_link]
tag if you want to hide the URL. But you do have the option to customize the button from Settings User Interface Tab.
Dear Support,
After installing the Pro version, “Edit Profile” link to “website.com/?udb_page=edit-profile” says nothing found.
Download History also “website.com/?udb_page=download-history” says the same.
What could be the issue?
Regards,
Farhad
Hi Shariar
I checked and the Private Download Links Usage Limit was set to 3 – I increased it to 300 and it still gives the same message.
In any case, you get the same problem if you try to download the file from our normal downloads page “downloads.acfconsultants.com”, and the problem arises with all previous files too.
Please can you send me a link to download the previous version 4.9.7 (Pro) until the issue is resolved?
Thanks
Lawrence
Please check the “Private Download Links Usage Limit:” option in the Basic settings tab. Maybe it is set to 0. Set it to a higher value.
Send temporary wp-admin login info in private reply if that doesn’t fix the issue.
1 ) Requires customization of /download-manager/tpls/wpdm-reg-form.php
template. Here you will find template customization documentation https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/doc/template-files/
2 ) You have to create a Facebook App to get that info. You can follow this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txCfgVmsR7g or just start creating the app from this link https://developers.facebook.com/apps
3 ) You need to create an app from the Google developer console, then from the Credentials tab, create an API key and OAuth client ID. Here is the link to https://console.developers.google.com/apis/dashboard dev console. This is a generic process. No special steps are required for the Download Manager.
4 ) Please check reply 1
5 ) You can use the Text option to collect URLs.

Hi Wise, Can you give me your WordPress site link and a Download package url to check?
How do I remove the odd pop up that occurs when linking to a download item?
https://king.vansd.org/elementary-school-supplies/
Clicking on the Listado de útiles escolares para escuelas de primaria link in blue box in upper right corner generates a pop up that just says “Download”. I just want the file to open.
Thanks for your response.
While this does seem to generate a link the usage limits do not seem to work, I can download a 1 time usage link as many times as I like.
Furthermore, it does not redirect to the actual page that imposes lock options such as terms.
How do I generate a unique 1 time link that goes to the regular download page?
Thanks.
Hi, I’ve just started to use Download Manager Pro and trying to style my own download button in Templates area.
I wanted to use this kind of code below but at the same time, I want to have the URL to be hidden just like the [download_link]
does.
<a href="[download_url]" class="button primary large shadow">[title]</a>
Is there any way to achieve this goal?

Hello – Any help with this? This problem is preventing any downloads on my client’s live site. Thanks.
Edit regarding the “send download link.” The link is valid and allows the download basically if you look at it immediately. Although it allows a usage limit of 3 and expiration after 60 minutes. Not sure if that issue is related or not.
Hi,
In case of the free version, use the link template “Default Template”. Use TinyMCE button plugin ( https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/advanced-tinymce-button/ ) or Gutenberg Block plugin ( https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/gutenberg-blocks/ ) to generate package shortcode/block where you will have some visual options to generate the shortcode/block with the proper link template.

Something unusual seems to be happening with the latest update. I’ve updated a PDF document and would like to use the master link across many sites. However, when I hyperlink to my main PDF document, a pop up box comes up and says the word “Download”, but there’s no option to do that, nor does the download happen. The link is correct (when I test it, it opens fine in another window). What is that popup box and how do get rid of it?
I’ve figured it out. Hopefully, anyone else running into this problem will benefit from this thread.
Shafayet, regarding your comment about backing up before updating, I back up daily, if not more often. As I stated, I was able to restore the deleted file from my backup.
Doc Dunning, I appreciate you chiming in. However, my custom templates have unique names and those unique names are used within the template file, as well.
Shariar, your response got me on the right track. However, it was WP Download Manager “documentation” that got me in this mess in the first place.
For your reference.
https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/doc/short-codes/
According to this documentation, you are to use the “Template ID” in your short-code to source the template you desire. This does in fact work IF your custom template is in the “\wp-content\plugins\download-manager\tpls\link-templates” folder. However, once you move your custom templates to the “\wp-content\themes\my-theme\download-manager\link-templates” folder they will no longer work if you use the Template ID alone. You must then add “.php” to the end of the Tamplate ID in your short-code or your custom template WILL show up in Downloads > Templates > Link Templates (tab), but will NOT be sourced when you view the page, widget, etc. you’re using the short-code on.
Just a wild guess here…
Maybe there is a difference in the plug-in code between the free and the pro version of WP Download Manager?
Adding the rel="nofollow"
attribute in download link will instruct robots not to crawl the download link. Replace <a href="[download_url]">[title]</a>
with <a rel="nofollow" href="[download_url]">[title]</a>
in your link/page template.
I am using the form lock add on. The user must fill out a Gravity Form and provide their e-mail address, etc.
When the customer fills out the e-mail form to request the document, they receive an e-mail that says
Please click on following link to start download:
#locked
In the backend of WordPress, if I use the “Generate download link” tool, it works and I am able to download the document.
However if you use the “Email download link” icon, which sends an e-mail that says Please click on following link to start download: with a button, if you click on this button, you get a screen that says ERROR — Invalid download link —.
The URL is https://(domain, file/?wpdmdl=174&_wpdmkey=5d122b68db3ba&refresh=5d122b68dd44e1561471848
This happens with all download packages. The person does not have an email domain that we have blocked.
WPDM – Form Lock ( wpdm-form-lock.zip ) 1.6.2
WordPress Version 5.2.2

Yes, it is possible. Use the ” Generate Download Link” button under the package name ( In All Packages admin page ) to generate the link.
And this is code of page link:
<div class=”media well link-template-widget”>
[icon]
<div class=”media-body”>
[title]
<div style=”font-size: 9pt;”>
<i class=”fa fa-database color-green”></i> [file_size] <i class=”fa fa-file color-purple”></i> Št. datotek: [file_count] <i class=”fa fa-clock color-green”></i> Posodobljeno: [update_date] <i class=”fa fa-cloud-download-alt color-purple”></i> Prenešeno: [download_count] krat
</div>
</div>
</div>
<style>
.wpdm_icon{ max-width: 48px; width: 48px; }
</style>
Please send me the page link to check how you are rendering download urls.
Template used on both sites widgets (Everywhere > New Downloads widget) WELS – Default Link Template
when updating to the latest pro version. I fix some old links. The old links after fixing them are blocked from downloading
Please help me reset so I can maintain the old link more easily . Or you can show me how to fix
Ed – I was on the same trail as you, trying to work out how to create custom templates in my theme folder structure.
I found that putting a template in “\wp-content\themes\my-theme\download-manager\link-templates” does work, as long as I give it a file name that didn’t exist in the plugin’s folder, and that the comment line at the top of my custom template is unique.
By the way, I’m not planning to use the page templates at present so I can’t comment on whether its easy to customise them.
Maybe that helps, or at least gives you some hope … I’m still checking that everything is in order, so if I find something weird, I’ll post again.
Hi,
With the latest version of wpdm pro ( 4.9.8 ), when single file download is active, you should see an individual download link for each file in the file list.
