Topic: Wrong Post Types displayed
Hello there,
first of all I would like to explain my or our situation.
We got a project from another agency, to fix a website and be the “new” admins of their WordPress site.
There are a lot of bugs in it, because the developer who managed the site wrote a lot of hardcoded PHP stuff.Now it is getting better and better, but right now we are on an problem with the Download Manager (it may not only be the Download Manager, but you still might have a solution for that).
So basically we are using the Block-Editor and the WP Download Manager Plugin.
On one site we use the “Packages” Block or Element, that should show all Downloads from a category.
Now if we apply no filter, it shows other post types like Posts or Events, but no downloads at all (we have a lot of downloadable content and aswell categories)
If we set it up with one included category for example it just doesnt show anything.Aswell if we try the “Package” Block, who shows only one download possibility at a time, and i want to chose one. It only shows me other posts, events or even sites. But not a single download.
I dont know why this happens, but on other plugins like the Events Calender it has similar issue. Or even the post filtering from original wordpress has similar issues aswell. Thats why I say: “maybe its not a problem from Download Manager”.
I appriciate any kind of help of anybody who has an idea. If you need some more details let me know!

Yes, you can use wpdm_category or wpdm_packages shortcode:
The shortcode below worked as I wanted prior to upgrade to 6.3.2:
[wpdm_my_downloads login=1 template=link-template-widget cols=2]
It showed a filter based on categories on the left side. It showed all packages belonging to the categories where the user is a member of.
Now it only shows packages, where the user is mentioned in the members. It does not show packages belonging to the categories, of which the user is a member. It looks broken to me.
[wpdm_all_packages login=1 thumb=1 order_by=date]
shows packages as expected, but unfortunately it has no category filter.
Please let me know how to get the previous functionality back.
Topic: Import from CSV hangs at 1%
I’m trying to import downloads using a CSV (based on the template) as each package has a lot of categories in the CSV, which I don’t want to manually deal with. I’m trying with a test CSV of just one package but it hangs at 1% and doesn’t do anything. I’ve tried in a staging site with all other plugins deactivated and the same happens.

It will allow assigning specific logged in users of your site for those downloads that will be hidden for non-logged in users.
but lock will not be used in this way. We don’t have any user based lock feature.You can contact for customization service here.

Its extreminly slow especially within the Downloads section.
If you try to create a new download package, the page can take upto 2 minutes for it to appear.
We have the Downloads Manager Pro plug in and our downloads over the pass few days have started to take forever over several minutes to load.
We have version 6.2.6 but on the site it looks like there are 5 versions ahead of us up to 3.6.1 which doesn’t seem available to us in our plug in updates. Wondering if this is potentially why the system is so slow?
Would be great if someone could contact us to advise if they can help as to why the downloads are taking an age to load for front and back end users.

I am changing from another plugin to this one, Downloads Manager (free), and would like to import all of my existing downloads (there are many) so that I don’t have to recreate them…is there any way to do this?
I’m not a coder but am very good at adding code snippets provided by others to my Child Theme’s functions.php file and I’m also very comfortable working in my database using PhpMyAdmin, so even if it means doing a find&replace in my DB to relabel those downloads I can do that.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated!

Hi,
I would like to create a page that only shows a specific cateogry of my downloads with still having all the filter options (including the other categories) available in case the user would like to add another category to their search. Is this possible to accomplish? and how would I go about it?

Hello Tanvir,
just one feature request for all versions of the download manager: due to security reasons (security by default) it would be good if the default value for the access rights to a new document would be “none”. I think most people who use the downloads manager have in mind to restrict the access to a document.
If now an editor forgets explicitly to restrict the access rights, it may be a security problem if suddenly the documents will appear without any restriction or they may appear in the google index.
Just as a suggestion for further versions.

Hope you are well. For hiding/restricting downloads files/packages to certain user roles, you can give access to those roles from your files/packages
Package Settings > Allow Accesssection. And if you are using the PRO version of WPDM you can check this option too fromWhen user is not allowed to download > Hide Everythingoption as I image attached,

I rebuilt my site last year, re-made all of my several hundred downloads and everything has been working fine until…I’ve updated plugins in the last month or so. I have a new download file to add and I’m getting errors when I try work with this new file, ‘No File Attached With The Package’ if you click the file title or Download button for the new download file I’ve added. The one I’m having trouble with is ‘VRWP Installation Instructions’. You can get to it by clicking on ‘Installation Instructions’ in the head area from this page:
https://www.evenlite.com/downloads/You can see too, that the icon is not loading correctly either. I know I can go and choose the icon on the file download page, but I’ve not had to to that before.
When I add a new file to link to by clicking ‘Select From Server’ in the dashboard, it says {{path on}} under the file name until I save/update the page and it refreshes. After that, there isn’t anything listed under there. Older files I’ve set up will show the file path to follow.

BrettFor updating the WPDM PRO main plugin, Please simply click the Save Settings again for the license key option from
Downloads > Settings > License, and then please update the plugin from thewp-admin > pluginspanel.Alternatively, You can also download them from here. And you can upload and install it as a normal plugin.

I’m using Loco translate with Download manager pro, however, some strings are missing, so the frontend translation is partially.

and for example the “View more” option, I don’t even see it on the strings for translation.

RaphaelIs there a way to disable auto downloads after the recaptcha is verified. It automatically downloads the file and then displays the download button.
the 2nd part of this issue is that the Download limit only applies to the “button” download of the file.
The easiest fix would be to disable the auto download once users have agreed with terms and clicked on the captcha.

Hello! I have WPDM and even though I love it, we are having some new requirements that we just don’t know if WPDM can fulfill. We’ve used WPDM with success for a couple of years now, but some of our frustration is coming with the lack of integration with major plugins and tools like Learndash, WPFusion, and Buddyboss.
This is one of the scenarios we are trying to achieve:
As the user advances through a course (in Learndash), we have some activities with downloads for them (so far, so good). We use a shortcode to embed the download, and voilá.
But we would like to create a consolidated page (as a Locker) per user that has all the downloads they have unlocked so far across all the courses they are going through.
We have tried your locker solution (custom access) with mixed success because it is all manual!, we haven’t found a way to automate the locker in this way.
We thought maybe using tags with WPFusion for downloads, where if a user has a tag, they can see the download in their locker (this is supported by WP Download Monitor, a competitor of yours: https://wpfusion.com/documentation/other/download-monitor/) but this does not seem supported with WPDM (you are not even listed in the WPFusion integrations page).
Then we thought doing it through UnCanny Automator or AutomatorWP (which both connect to WPDM, more info here: https://automatorplugin.com/integration/wp-download-manager/ and here: https://automatorwp.com/add-ons/download-manager/), but none of them have an action of “give access to user for a specific download” (the equivalent of manually adding the user to the Custom Access of the file). This would have been ideal because we could use your shortcode that comes with the Custom Access Control to show the files the user has access to, but this option does not exist.
We believe this would be a great addition for your solution, not just for me.

Ok that worked!
One more question, under the My Downloads we now see the files and the download button. How do we enable the “Lock” feature as we have a terms and conditions they must check prior to downloading. Note, that if you click the filename there are 2 download buttons. One large one in the top left (this one has the lock displaying when you click it). The other is a small download button on the right which does not require the lock popup once you click it.

Hi there. Wanted to check back in. It seems like this issue continues to grow despite no changes on my end. In speaking to our Content Manager, she said she used to pull reports of downloads by user and only had a few lines of “Guest” that she would just remove. Her latest export showed 765, so they are increasing even though we are using SSO and all users have access levels assigned.
Our Content Manager did mention that when she looked at the backend after downloading things herself, it appeared that it would show her name once or twice, but every download she did after that would show as “Guest” even though she knew it was her. Seems like that is a trend where there will be 2 downloads from the same person followed by several “Guest” downloads. Knowing that, it seems like a glitch within Download Manager and not something that I have done.
