ok now, for some reason, you server was adding a invisible char before filename and that was causing this trouble.

Yes, but as the search page is coming from your theme, so you actually need to edit theme template. Otherwise you can use the add-on http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/wpdm-directory-add-on/ , with that add-on you need to use search option like this: http://demo.wpdownloadmanager.com/wpdmpro/archive-page/
