I’m not sure if this is a WPDM or a Theme question.

I have just been going through the search responses to make them a little clearer to customers. IMHO the Seartch is a bit confusing, as it does not search across *ALL* sections if you select multiple section configuration. In my case I had selected [Posts, Pages & Downloads] yet when I entered the title of a Download Package I get ‘No Results Found’. Huh?

I subsequently figured out that you needed to select the ‘other’ sections from the Search menu to force the code to search those particular sections.

And to make it even more confuing to the new user, unlike a [Post] or a [Page] there was no default text returned when using the Verse Theme when you performed an empty search in the [Downloads] section – just empty space – a little odd as this is Theme for a download plugin!

FWIW you need to edit the [search-templates/wpdmpro.php file] – and it works in a child theme. I just copied the default text from the Verse theme [search-templates/post.php/pages.php], however you will need to cut-and-paste code (and maybe re-position an auto-incrementing variable!) and edit a bit to make it work.

However I noticed that the Search always defaults to [Posts] when I have [Posts], [Pages] and [Downloads] as multiple selected Search options. Again this was a bit confusing at first (as you kinda assume it would search download content), and this was the reason for wanting to improve the ’empty’ responses.

But it got me wondering as to whether I can configure (or code) the Search to default to [Downloads] instead?

I know the string I need to change [?post_type=post] > [?post_type=wpdmpro] but despite some global folder searches and a few coding options in the Verse files (search.php & functions.php) but can’t quite get my head around the relationship here between the variable: $current_post_type & the array: $search_post_types.

The migration add-on is still required. How did you migrate old downloads without it? I see that there is no file attached to most of your packages.

You can use the Default Values add-on ( https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/wpdm-default-values/ ) to bulk update package settings. Please check the add-on page for more details. But you have to attach files manually as it is unique to each package.

As you said before there are only 300 packages that your client will need, it is better to delete other packages which will simplify the management.

    Hi WPDM,

Two issues with the button “You Are Not Allowed to Download”, relating to [free_download_btn]

1 – I want to change it to say something else but not get overwritten when you issue an update. How do I do that?

2 – It is allowing downloads all the time to anybody. Page link below is an example (if you are logged out the button will display “Download All Files” and still let you download the free files from the package). if you are logged in and you don’t have the correct subscription to download the free files it will say “You Are Not Allowed to Download”, and still let you download them.

I will add the link in private reply.

    How to fix this?

Could somebody help, please? It’s not feasible to reset all these downloads manually.

    Shahriar,

You need to add the information about how to add the free button to your documentation! I’ve spent three hours trying to find this out and now I found this forum post by using Google search. It is very difficult to search for anything containing the search terms ‘free files download’ this phrase is all over the Internet!

I have some queries about this now please:

1 – I added the button but it displays the same Link Label as the main package. I need it to have a different Link Label, such as “Download Free Files”, so that members can tell the difference between the download buttons. My main button Link label is Download All Files (because I also have enabled individual files to be downloaded, so I want the main button to say something extra, other than ‘Download’.

2 – Second, On my site I need a free download and a paid members download. However, I dont want the paid member levels to see the free download button (because the free downloads are already available in their paid packages). How could I do that please?

PS your site is looking better every day.

    Many thanks,
    DesignServe

The plugin got deleted during the update. It happens when there is an issue with WPDM credentials.

If you have installed the latest version of Download Manager please logout and login again to your WPDM account in the Downloads > Settings > Updates page. That should fix the issue.

The WordPress is using the wp-login page because you have disabled the WPDM login page.

    The solution for all issues,

1 ) Set WPDM login page again from Downloads > Settings > Frontend Access > Login Page

2 ) Use this URL http://www.cbsconsulting.com.au/wp-login.php?skipwpdm=1 to login when you want to access the admin area

    Hi Shaon,
Here are two examples on different sites that are causing issue for the Microsoft Windows visitors BUT only for some packages.

    Examples:

    Welcome Home

    https://cad.welsrc.net/downloads-cad/outreach-movies/

    Error screen: http://cad.welsrc.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/20/2019/07/errorDONOTDELETE.jpg

However, MAC users are almost always able to successfully download these. But the folders contained within the .ZIP file are deep BUT appear like…
    /nas/content/live/wrc/wp-content/uploads/download-manager-files/AND THEN ALL THE FILES

What could be causing this. When we recreate the package, it works.
Please help us resolve this issue. There are too many (100s) to recreate across all the sites. Thanks.

    Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I was hoping to create something that allows this type of filtering of downloads: https://theme-one.com/the-grid/suva/

Each filter title would be a category.

    Is this possible?

    Kind regards,

    Spencer

    Hi Greg,

Please install the latest version to fix the issue. Follow these steps to update the plugin,

1 ) Deactivate and delete the old version. You won’t lose any data.

    2) Download latest version from here https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/user-dashboard/?udb_page=purchases

3 ) Install the latest version and activate the license key.

If you login to your WPDM account from Downloads > Settings > Updates page, you can update the plugin right from your plugins page.

    Thanks.

The way that you changed it did not display the downloads in the proper order. The issue is that the post ID is set when they are uploaded so if they are uploaded out of order then even trying to reorder them using s re-order post plugin doesn’t actually change the ID.

So, my workaround was to edit the ‘publish date’ of each post and then to sort them by date. However, the folders don’t display correctly even though the content inside the folders do. The shortcode I am using is:

    [wpdm_tree download_link=1 orderby=date order=desc category=improver-pages]

And the tree appears this way:

    2016
    Jan
    Feb
    March
    April… etc

    2017
    Jan
    Feb
    March
    April… etc

    2018
    Jan
    Feb
    March
    April… etc

    – – – BUT – –

What I want is for it to appear this way:

    2018
    Jan
    Feb
    March
    April… etc

    2017
    Jan
    Feb
    March
    April… etc

    2016
    Jan
    Feb
    March
    April… etc

Is there a way to change the order of the categories?

My issues appear to have went away after you accessed my admin. I assumed that you fixed something while you were in there. My downloads are working but I don’t know why because you didn’t say if you fixed anything. Did you fix or do anything? If so, what?

I had made a staging copy of my site last week and it was still having the issues as of this morning. I went into the Cloud Storage settings where my Amazon S3 account credentials are set and I just re-saved the settings by clicking the Save Settings button. Right after doing that, the downloads started working again on my staging site too. Ron, I’d recommend that you try re-saving your settings to see if it gets your S3 downloads working again. Perhaps support re-saved my settings while they were in there.

Shahriar, you couldn’t access my own package downloads because I have my downloads protected by another membership plugin so that only certain membership roles can access the downloads. For future reference, I’ve found that you can still access one of my protected package downloads by going to the edit screen for one of my packages and then clicking Preview Changes. This will open up the page for the package and allow testing of the Download buttons even though the package is protected.

Thanks. Would it be possible for this to be a feature that is added in a future update? I imagine many of the users of your plugin have different categories with different settings for different products and would not always want to do a bulk update that impacts ALL of their downloads. Please consider this as a future feature. Thanks

PS can it be optional in the package whether the mp3 can be downloaded? Or will it prevent all mp3 downloads? If there is no option I prefer that they can’t download the mp3 but it would be better if I have an option to allow or not. Thanks.

We will fix this issue in next release. For now, you can replace this code \WPDM\Package::userCanAccess($data['ID']) with just 1 in /tpls/wpdm-all-downloads.php file to get the old feature back.

    Hi,

If you are changing the domain, unlock the key from the old domain. You can do that from your WPDM dashboard or just send me the order id. I will unlock the key.

If you are getting the error without moving the license to another domain, Please install the latest version to fix the issue. Follow these steps to update the plugin,

1 ) Deactivate and delete the old version. You won’t lose any data.

    Hi Wenceslau,

Actually, your shortcode was wrong, this should be the right shortcode >

    [wpdm_all_packages items_per_page="10" categories="cat1"jstable=1 order_by="title" order="ASC" cols="title|download_count|categories|update_date|download_link" colheads="Title|No of Downloads|Categories|Update Date|Download Link"]

See your table is looking like this now :

    Tim Lord
    Member

Actually – found the fix – realised it was because the upload had certain characters in it – the filenames contained () and ”
Removing those solved the issue and the downloads work as expected

I just updated to WPDM Amazon S3 2.7.6. Since doing do, my downloads have all stopped working. When I click on any Download button, I get a page saying, “The site is experiencing technical difficulties.” I have tested with all other plugins disabled except for Download Manager and WPDM Amazon S3 and the issue still occurs. Please help ASAP. Thank you.
