I loved the free version of this plugin, but I need users to make file uploads and downloads to defined categories, all in one on the same page or on different pages. Looking a bit in the plugin options in the demo pro and unfortunately I could not identify this function. So I would like to confirm that it is possible to do this with the plugin?

Alas, I cannot give you access to the website, but there is definitely some confusion on how to use Link Templates and Page Templates.
We have test pages with single files as packages, but changing the Link Templates and Page Templates so we can view them doesn’t do anything at all… how can we best see what these templates look like?
And what is the best way to add images to the Directory add-on? We finally found where the crazy font was being added and removed it from the add on so that it used the same font as the rest of the site, but the thumbnails and featured images seem to have an erratic preference of their own when it comes to display sizes 🙂
Are there recommended sizes for Featured images for downloads?

the button seems to work and a file downloads but there are no files in the zip when I try and unzip it
Actually you will never need that feature, as wpdm pro already has clone option. You can create a package with default settings, then every time you need to create another package, you can clone previous one or the default one.
Hi, is it possible to display the “Top Download” widget in desc order based on number of downloads?
Actually they are displayed in alphabetical order only.
Thanks.We will not be selling any files for the foreseeable future, however I’ve moved us from WordPress Download Monitor and I need to still have one page where: folks can search for all documents/files, they can visually see all grouped by the categories…AND I want to be able to have them download more than one file at a time. It would seem like a need the Premium Addon for the shopping cart feature to do multiple downloads, however does that also give the view of all the files grouped by category or where the user can filter them…or do I have to also buy the Directory Add-on for that? I found a similar issue trying to expand the search with the archive addon. The actual archive page itself uses a javascript search query that appears to only search by title. Could not get it to look at package descriptions.
However, if you use the [wpdm-search-page] shortcode that comes with the wpdm directory add-on, THAT searches into the description. I only discovered that shortcode by going through the source code for the archive php file. The section to describe that area is on line 364. I then rewrote that to include categories and ended up with something like this: $res = $wpdb->get_results(“select * from {$wpdb->prefix}ahm_files where title like ‘%$_REQUEST[q]%’ or description like ‘%$_REQUEST[q]%’ or category like ‘%$_REQUEST[q]%'”,ARRAY_A);
Since my site is for downloads only, and nothing else, I ended up rewriting the search.php page in my theme template area using this information to create a search bar on the site itself that parses the data out to a new page.
Anyway, I hope this can help you some as it took me about 2 days to get it all sorted out for my own site.

Replying again, my admin account was reseted and I was able to download again and I did 10 downloads (limit is 2) with not a limitation txt popping on at all. Please check my issue and please try to download my own downloads from my own posts where the problem persists. If you need a new account I can give you one right away.

Wow….! So, I took your advice @Shaon and contacted Live Support. Firstly they pointed me to the add-ons which provide the TinyMCE icon and the import of the downloads from the free version. Excellent – though may be a good idea to alert people they will need these, especially as they are free.
Then the issue I had with templates was resolved after I gave Live Support admin access and FTP access whereupon it was discovered the plugin had not been fully installed somehow and some files were missing. They were added and the Pro version now works…!
I had initially asked for my money back….but now I’ll be promoting the plug in instead because of the excellent support.

Me too…! When you have a site that has hundreds of downloads with the free version, the last thing you want is the Pro version to ignore them meaning you have to install them all again…!
Plus the TinyMCE button disappearing is just plain daft.
Plus the templates do not work – no matter which template I choose it only ever shows the default on the front end.
Happy…? Not…! I’m switching back to the free version – it is SO MUCH BETTER…!

I’m moving my site onto a different server – same domain. At the moment, it’s reachable via IP address and we’re testing the site using the hosts file on individual PC’s. However, the downloads and archive page don’t seem to be working – I’m assuming that it’s a licensing thing as it’s not technically on the same domain any more; is this the case?
However, I can’t switch the domains over until the client has seen the site working. Given this, is it possible to add a temporary licence for a week pointed at an IP address?

Hello I am facing a problem with Daily Downloads. Everything seems to work great but the only problem is that the maximum number of downloads per day doesnt function and everybody gets the daily-download-limit.txt file.
Is there a way to fix this and give my members to download the minimum of files everyday? The maximum files allowed for download are 2 and it doesnt work.
Please help me.Hi, I’m using WP Download Manager to manage hundreds, almost a thousand downloads and have multiple users helping add and maintain the downloads. It would save us a ton of time and reduce the amount of checking we have to do if we could set certain default values for the Package Settings of a New Package.
The most helpful fields to be able to set default values in the settings section which would be defaulted to when you add a new package are:
–Allow Access
–Link Template
–Page TemplateFinally, we attach a license file to every download. It would be awesome if there was a way to specify a file or files that are automatically attached when you create a new package… they could just show up in the list already. Again, specified in the settings section. If this was set and you didn’t want it, you could delete just like you can any other file in a package.

I just purchased this after being impressed by the free version but now having so many problems with PRO version. I’ve uploaded the file and everything but when I want to download it downloads a file called ‘fie not found.txt’.Had such high hopes for this plugin but really disappointed now.

When they do another menu appears (incl menu item “Downloads” > http://www.sfml.nl/download/) I added some downloads but when I click on them I get redirected to the homepage instead of downloading the files. It’s really making me crazy. Please can you help me to fix this issues with the plugin.
If I set:
Allow only ‘Editor’ and upper level users to administrate this plugin
Multi-User ‘Disabled’
then Downloads does not appear for Editors.If I set:

then Downloads does appear for Editors but they can’t see packages that an Administrator has added.Is there a way to let Editors manage packages that administrators have added?
Spoke too soon in previous post: Password protection isn’t functioning either.
As soon as a password is entered into file downloads manager, the url link shown when hovering over the download button is the wp install location. This is fine in itself as file url/access code isn’t revealed.
However, when the correct password is entered, the user is still redirected to the WP install url, i.e. the WP site home page.

When viewing the site, and I click on the title of a download package it takes me to the next page showing version size, downloads, size, created date.etc… well how do I add the main picture on that page? - Delete free version
- then follow the steps here http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/docs/installing-wordpress-download-manager-pro/
- Now if you need to import files from free to pro, Download and install copy to pro add-on from here http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/copy-to-pro/
- Go to wp-admin Downloads Settings Copy to premium tab, and you will see the list of files you create with free version, check all copy
- and done!
Topic: Update existing file
I’ve had problems for months trying to upgrade to the latest pro package. After fixing bug by bug (template bugs, missing icons, etc) I have a one problem that I just cannot find a way to fix.
I can add new download with absolutely no problems, but I cannot make any changes on existing listings (from old version). I get the message on top “updated’, but when I view the page,no changes has been made and when I go back to the download again, all changes have been rolled back to the old settings. Download works, but the ‘download’page is also missing. domain.com/downloads or download does not exist and that’s what I have in settings.
Does anybody know what is going on and how to fix it?

I’ve created a page on my site which contains the shortcode [wpdm_category id=ict item_per_page=10] where ‘ict’ is the category name. It returns all the downloads with that category. The download links under each name work, but when I click on the actual file name it returns an empty page, rather than a details page showing the large thumb, download description, etc. What am I doing wrong? I’m really confused! 🙁
The url in the address page shows ‘?download=space-shuttle-poster’ after my domain name (space shuttle poster is a test PDF download file).

What a nightmare. I deleted the free version… installed Pro. No problem. Ran the copy to premium add on. Great. But now working in Pro I had to manually change [wpdm file id=1] to [wpdm package id=1]. Now it won’t display the nice little download icon on the page, it displays the file name in big green letters and it shows the file size and how many downloads it has, with no option to change that. Then when you click on it to download… it doesn’t download it, it displays a buggered up page full of stats.
I only bought this plug in so I could track where my downloads are coming from… looking to go back to the free version.
Any thoughts?
