It is on a test page which is never published, just used for trial purposes. Its url is sharons test page, but this is what I’ve tried [wpdm_package_all] which doesn’t work. I just want to be able to autolist all available downloads for a particular site. I have two sites both running this plugin, and all the data goes into one databank/data-table, but I just want some of them to show, not to show the downloads of the other site.
Can you please let me know how to fix the following error.
My client is unable to download the PDF files from the following website, only from INTERNET EXPLORER. It creates an error “cannot download file”. The downloads work normally in Chrome, Safari and firefox. It’s just IE.
I know I can restrict access based upon user groups (i.e. Admin, Editor, etc.) but the only group that is applicable is Customer (as we are using WooCommerce to manage 12 month memberships). However, once the 12 month membership expires, they would still be part of the Customer group and therefore still be able to access the individual download pages.
All I need is the ability to either stop the individual download pages being generated or apply the ability to restrict access to the page itself while still allowing access to the downloads on the custom pages I create for each category.
Sadly it’s not viable to undo all the setup and move over to a different membership system.
From version 2.7.* Download Manager Free moved to custom post type for better performance and security issue. After you upgrade to version 2.7.*, you need to migrate your old versions’ data. To migrate your old version data to new version, goto Admin Menu Downloads Settings Migrate Tab of your WordPress admin panel. Follow the instructions written their.
Things to remember:
1. You need to manually re-assign download icon for every post from Admin Menu Downloads All Files
2. You need to reassign categories for each files manually.
3. Existing Category ShortCode will not work, you need to change all category ShortCode manually. However, you can install Advanced TinyMCE button AddOns for free to easily place shortcode in a page or post.
4. You can install Free AddOns to extend functionality for Download Manager.
I also found out that Create Date has sorting problem
(refer Sort by Date screenshot above)
This might be a problem with jstable read date format because jstable=0 solved it. But we’ll lose the search/sorting functionality.
(I’m using dd/MM/yyyy format)
Today I upgraded the plugin to the latest, Version 4.1.8. Now, I can’t seem to attach files to a package, or edit details of the package (like templates used, package size, # of downloads, etc.)
Whenever I hit the update button it just discards the changes. I even tried creating a new package and attaching the file I want (a simple 329 KB PDF), but only basic information (Author, title, description) seem to be saved. Everything else reverts to the default, and the file does not attach.
Please help. I’m getting ready to launch a new site, and this is really causing me some concern.
Well, I uninstalled and reinstalled. I uploaded a fresh file. I got the same error on my test page. I disabled “Resumable Downloads”, saved the setting, and was able to download the file. I went back to settings, and the enable option was selected again. I was still able to download the file. So, I don’t know if that will fix it for additional files, or whether I need to go through the disable/enable step for each file, but it will work.
As for the ugly links that don’t fit in my sidebar, can I assume that is something the Pro version will allow me to fix?
Nothing else to fix there now, you simply need to use latest version. All security issue is already fixed. Download issue is coming probably because your server is not supporting output buggering, in that case, from download manager settings page disable “Resumable Downloads”
Good morning, just updated to v4.1.8 and I’m not able to create new downloads. When i create a new doc I am able to attach files, icons, templates, etc. But when i click on publish the content of the doc is blank. It saves with the title only but loses attached file, template settings and shows a blank page. It then renders on the page with an access denied link and no attachment found.
I’ve deleted the plugin, downloaded it again and reinstalled it. All add-ons were disabled before installing 4.1.8 and had no issues before updating. Have added no new plugins or had any site changes prior to the update.
Which version of download manager you upgraded form ? If answer is 2.6.96 you can follow below instructions, if no maybe there’s some js issues. Give me your site address to check in a private reply. Hope this help 🙂

Hello, I have installed lazy download plugin and default values. Is there any way to set manaully default values for bulk import? I need set checkbox “Lazy Download” for imported downloads (by default this checkbox is not active).
I just noticed another thing. When you set package to “member downloads”, then if you click the download link without login it downloads a file called “permission-denied.txt”. This has a message saying “permission denied”.
Is this really the correct behavior or is it bugs?? It seems crazy!!
Shaon, What do you think? Here’s what my host provider found…
—- Host Provider Message Begins —–
We’ve dug into this further for you and upon extensive investigation I’ve discovered the cause of the issue.
Within the Staging site I tried creating a secondary sub-site for testing by cloning the main site over to a new sub-site. When loading the URL being requested however, everything worked as expected.
The cause of the issue is due to the ‘Link Template’ package being an option within All Packages > Link Template. By moving this item to the Trash, the remaining downloads display without any issues.
I would recommend reviewing the settings on the ‘Link Template’ page and perhaps adjusting them to different settings to prevent the issue in the future. Upon review, it looks like the package ID may be incorrect, per the contents of the package:
Right now the two package Ids seem inconsistent. I’m unsure if this is intentional, However you may reach out to the Plugin developer directly to see if they’ve accounted for ‘Link Template’ being utilized within the Packages section.
—— Host Provider message ends ——-
Not sure what the package id has to do with archive shortcode when trying to display all in a file list…. Shaon, can you shed some light on this? What’s your take? I still get the “loading” icon on the live site.
[wpdm_tree download_link=1] should work fine, it will go to details page only for password protected files, otherwise download will start on click. If it is not working for you, I need to check it in your installation, please give me a temporary wp-admin login info in a private reply.
[wpdm_all_packages]
Yes, you can. filename wpdm-all-downloads.php
Yes, simply need to add css for specific classes as per your need.
Hey there Shaon,
So I did contact our host provider. Here’s what they are saying back after trying to recreate the issue:
——-begin——-
Thank you for your assistance and authorization while we work on this. Checking into the issue further after pushing to staging, the problem appears to stem from this call in the code: http://cef-wrc-wpengine-com.wrc.staging.wpengine.com/?wpdmtask=get_downloads&pg=3109&category=0
This specific URL is being called, but is causing a segmentation fault in Apache, which in turn causes a 502 in nginx, which then results in the “Loading” box being stuck on screen. This is not due to the memory limit, but is instead due to the code. Changing the category in the above URL to anything other than 0 will load correctly without an nginx 502 error. This leads me to believe the code isn’t designed to properly handle the category being 0, or the categories may be misconfigured. In either case, this is a problem with that specific plugin and is not related to the memory limit. While we’re unable to assist further with this, due to it being a coding issue, presenting the information I’ve just given you to the plugin author should help them diagnose the problem. Essentially, the above URL is the cause of the issue.
The site itself is actually functioning perfectly, outside of the initial loading box. Clicking any button for the downloads works fine to expand the boxes and removes the Loading box, as well. So, the problem is only present on the initial load of the page. It is still a problem, but if it were a memory limit issue, the functionality of the site altogether probably would not work correctly.
If the developer of that plugin gives you any other information about server settings we can help with, please let us know and we can assist if we’re able.
——end——–
In turn, I responded….
Thanks for your answer David. The only trouble I have with your response is that that same code loads successfully on the parent site of the multisite install. See page: http://wrc.wpengine.com/jd-test-wpdm-archive/
So how does one page work, and not the other?
Idea on what to try next? The categories look fine. There are only 6. There are only about 10 packages. This shouldn’t be happening.
Hi,
i have wpdm 4.1.7 installed with “WPDM Directory Add-on 2.4.1″. I want to create pages with only specific categories displayed. I tried your Example from this page: http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/wpdm-directory-add-on/, which is:
[wpdm-archive button_style=”default” link_template=”link-template-panel” items_per_page=”10″ category=”category-slug” order_by=”field-name” order=”asc|desc”]
As soon as i add the category=”slug” (slug is in my case “warehouse”) parameter, the result in the frontend says: “No download found”. But there are many downloads in this category. So where is the problem? Why are they not showing up?
Still an issue after making a memory limit change. We will be using this plugin on about 20 subsites for all our downloads. We need this to work like it does for other companies.
Up until today, I haven’t had problems with adding a new file to the downloads. This morning, however, I uploaded a file to the download manager and it’s picking up extra code in the link; this is what’s showing: 1417458139wpdm_Free Homespun English Tudor Cowl PDF Pattern.pdf It should only be Free Homespun English Tudor Cowl PDF Pattern. Picking up the digits and wpdm_ is confusing the link resulting in a pop up for people to log in to the admin section of my blog rather than being able to download the PDF file. I’m not sure why this started but can it be fixed? Without the link showing up correctly or a means to edit, there is no reason for the download manager to even be installed.
Thank you for your help!
