Hi Shaon,
Our downloads aren’t working – they are all on email lock, but when a user enters their email address it just freezes saying “processing” and emails with the download link are NOT sent.
Help!
Dear Shaon,
I have just started to use Download Manager Pro.
We are now testing it in a demo environment; http://www.ictcentrale.nl/demo/branded/register
We only want to use a couple of simple functions, without too much other hassle:
– Download documents
– When user clicks to download, pop-up for the e-mail lock
– Download link is send to users e-mail
It’s all possible and working, but we like to change the following:
– When sending the email, we don’t want to show the complete url as done with [download_url]. Is it possible to make “download_url” appearing as a hyperlink? For example an underlined “Click here” with the download_url hidden in that link of course.
– Is it possible to download immediately, without sending an e-mail? We would like this option for some of the downloads, but still include the e-mail lock.
– Is it possible to add more required fields to the subscriber form? “company” / “function” ?
Kind regards,
Vincent Weening
The site is currently on Joomla and I need it to function similar.
In Phoca download a client logs in to my site and has access to downloads. Some clients have access to files and some don’t have access to all of the files. This is achieved by limiting access to categories that the files are in, to certain groups of people. I separate the users in the groups in the Phoca plugin and each group is given a certain level of accessibility.
So my question is, does your plugin allow me to grant access to multiple people? Can I group them together to give a group of people access to a certain number of files?
2. User manager roles plugins are not what I need for clients to access files from what I am seeing. Usually “Users” and the plugins that you are talking about pertain to editing stuff in wordpress. I want it like any other membership site would be.
For instance you login to the site. You have a user area (which I create the page for), and a link or nav menu takes you to the download area. The files you can download should be accessible there. Maybe a tab that says my downloads or something.
Either way how do i achieve placing downloadable files only certain users can access with your plugin?
Regarding Download Manager Pro.
Can I hide the ‘Downloads’ section for a certain user role (eg Editor) in the dashboard? So I want administrator to be able to see/edit, but hide it for any role below.
I am using the User Role Editor plugin. In here I can add custom capabilities that are called by their name such as “edit_posts”. See attached screen. Does Download Manager have unique names. Or do you have a plugin that can handle that?
Please help resolve this:

I have configured my sites membership, login screens, roles, permissions on all pages, etc. with the UltimateMember plugin for WordPress on a clients site. I just purchased WPDownloadManager so that they could manage their downloads. Now suddenly they can’t manage their profile pics, etc due to WPDownloadManager wrangling control of the $FILES array…
That forum post discusses the issues and how there is nothing that UltimateMember can do from their side to correct this issue only WPDownloadManager can. I recognize that WPDownloadManager apparently has some sort of member control option as well. But I am a user of both and unless WPDownloadManager wants to reconfigure my clients entire membership site to use WPDownloadManager, then I really just need an update that corrects the issue.
Just to quickly outline the problem as they have researched and discovered it to be…
“Today, my tester team reported me that they could not update his cover and profile photos, the screen froze without load the images. We were thinking what was changed and we remembered that the plugin “WordPress Download Manager” was installed a few hours early. We deactivate the plugin and now the profiles and cover photos can be changed without issue.”
They go on to begin debugging the issue and here is what they find.
Ok after more than hour of debugging. The plugin “Download Manager” causes our $_FILES array to always return empty, so no uploads can be processed (ajax-based).
So please, If you want this resolved, contact the plugin author to fix this conflict, as I can’t do anything to override it from our code. Please understand that not all conflicts can be resolved by editing the plugin code, and some conflicts require the other plugins author attention. So please bring this to their attention as well.
The file that needs $_FILES array access is lib/upload/um-image-upload.php
When that plugin is active, that array is always empty (Which is not true) but works fine when plugin is inactive.
They then go on to make a great point that…
I also want to add that when such conflicts occur, it involves two plugins and not just one plugin. So it’d be fair enough to request support/fix from the other plugin if it is the one creating the conflict ( as in this situation ) – We try our best to be compatible with other plugins if we can override settings or do the fix from our code, but other plugins need to do the same too.
Then they provide ONE MORE clarification of the issue…
If you need information to speed up debugging, here’s the reason why uploads not working in UM:
The $_FILES array is always empty when we try to access them in core/lib/upload/um-image-upload.php file to process uploaded files in ajax.
I have a client ready to go live but we can’t if they can’t utilize the membership plugin they have because of this conflict. Can someone let me know what can be done about this issue? And what kind of time frame we might all be looking at?
Thank you
Hi I have installed Download Manager Pro in a fresh wordpress 4.2.2 installation with Twenty fourteen theme and WordPress Download Manager Pro is not working at all. I can not download, when I click in the download (http://apoyomutuo.org/descarga/servicios-publicos-en-el-estado-del-malestar ) button it doesn’t anything.
At start the download page shows me the following js error:
“NetworkError: 404 Not Found – http://apoyomutuo.org/descarga/servicios-publicos-en-el-estado-del-malestar/index.php?_nonce=65fe78519a&id=15”
What is happening? What can I do?
Thanks in advance
Hi,
What would be the best way to create a breadcrum for the packages/downloads.
For instance
I’ve got a Category_page that has several packages.
I would like to create a breadcrum on top of each page.
It should read something like this:
Frequently Asked Questions > Hardware > Question 1
Frequently Asked Questions (Main Page) > Hardware (Category) > Question 1 (Package)
It probably won’t work with standard breadcrum plugins because the URL is usually something like: http://domain.com/downloads/question1
Could I create a html structure, where I use the shortcode [title] (of the package)
This would mean the following:
Frequently Asked Questions > [category_name] > [title]
Thank you!
Hi I am using the all downloads table shortcode.
How I can I edit it to make the newest downloads display at the top?
Thanks
Hey,
I’ve customized the plugin to automatically create thumbnail images for every file uploaded using ImageMagick. I’ve changed the Directory addon to display those thumbnail instead of icons. However, there is one last thing I need to do which I can’t quite figure out. I’d like to change the code for the [thumb_XxX] shortcode to automatically pull the first downloads thumbnail image.
Which file and line is the code located and how can I access the downloads for the package?
I would like to manually add a custom field to the all download table.
I am able to add the WordPress custom fields but not the ones added via the WPDM Advanced Custom Fields.
I have checked the post meta database and the WPDM Advanced Custom Fields are not included.
Please can you advise what the best solution is.
Thank you.
Great plugin btw.
