Hi,
trying to integrate the wpdm-form-lock to my downloads. But after i filled the form (liveform 4.74) it gets stuck – i see an ajax error with message: “is_file(): File name is longer than the maximum allowed path length on this platform (4096)”.
Please contact me for support.
ThanksI’m posting this comment to help those who may encounter the same issues I did using WPDM (free or pro) on an OVH mutualized hosting and WP-Rocket as a caching plugin. If it can save someone from wasting hours like I did…
Problem description: when clicking on the “download” button in WPDM documents page, the file download starts but stops and ends in failure.
Cause: the Gzip rules added by WP-Rocket to the htaccess file are incompatible with those of OVH. In some cases, this doesn’t cause any visible problems, but if you install WPDM, downloads don’t work.
Resolution: install the “WP Rocket | Remove GZIP (mod_deflate) rules” plugin proposed by WP-Rocket on this URL : https://docs.wp-rocket.me/article/1790-erreur-blank-response-from-server-ovh-locotranslate page.
They offer this solution for Locotranslate, but it also covers the WP-ROCKET/OVH problem.
Hope that helps !
Hi,
I have had a message from my client saying not all downloads are being recorded.
Can you please urgently look at this – we identified it firstly with Matthew Haddon but there are definitely others including Lucy Wilcox who dowload lots of files but the website is showing nothing (in fact I would say that if a member is not showing any downloads then this is in correct; everyone of our members have definitely downloaded something), as without accurate stats data I am unable to see trends or abuse of the files which is really important for us.
Also when I tried to update the plugin I received the following error –
Update failed: The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signatureLooking forward to your response
I have a website that was built on WordPress and we used download manager to manage the downloads of documents on the website. But now we migrated our website to another hosting platform, but after this switch we can see all our packages but the documents in the packages are no longer downloadable. We are getting an error “saying file not found”. How can this be resolved as we need those documents
Hi,
we develop our projects under a temporary development URL (http) before they go online under their final domain name. During the development phase, downloads are created via “Select from media library” and work flawlessly. As soon as the project goes online and the live URL is defined for the WordPress and website address (https), everything works fine… except for all previously defined downloads, whose URL still refers to the previously used development URL. Logically, visitors then receive a security warning. In short: the newly defined URL is not taken into account for the created downloads. Am I missing something? What should I do? In the past, it was sufficient to recreate the downloads manually, but a current website in the development stage already has 450 previously created downloads…
Thank you very much for hints!Topic: Automation-ready WPDM
Hello there.
Business need:
A user in our website fills an evaluation (like a personality test for example) and we produce a PDF with his results. We would like to add the PDF to our website’s downloads and customize access (Custom Access Control) so that only that specific user can access it. This will show the PDF report in this person’s download list (which we call his Locker).
We already create the PDF and send it via email to the user. We can also add it as a website download manually, but now we have tons of users and we need to find a way to upload the PDF and configure the access via some automation. For that we need webhooks or something similar.
Is there a way to do this with current WPDM and/or add-ons?
We use WPFusion in case this can help. They now offer WPDM integration: https://wpfusion.com/documentation/other/download-manager/
Here is the discussion in WPFusion on using WPDM versus other download managers for this feature: https://wpfusion.com/feature-requests/integration-with-wp-download-manager-or-similar/
We also have Uncanny Automator but it only has triggers for WPDM (when someone downloads a file), no actions (add file to user): https://automatorplugin.com/integration/wp-download-manager/
Hello there.

Hi,
In the user dashboard there is a “Download History” section, but no “Upload History” or “My Uploads” section. Please could you add this to the plugin? A user should have a way to see all the files he has added/uploaded to the site.
Greetings, I cannot find any setting where I can designate my custom templates to be the “default” used whenever I upload a new downloadable asset.
I have several users who frequently upload new things my site visitors can download, but getting them to remember to go into that asset and scroll all the way to the bottom to choose our custom Page and Link templates is frustrating, it should be simple to create a setting that uses our custom templates as the default, and then we can scroll and choose a different template IF the asset needs it (they don’t, we prefer our custom templates for ALL downloads).
Please consider adding a Setting to select the default templates in an upcoming (soon hopefully!) update, thank you.
Topic: Some archive pages broken
I have 5 archive pages displaying downloadpackages from one particular category. All pages have similar code which hasn’t been changed:
[wpdm_archive category = "wetenschap" button_style="primary" template = "5c9d1f2a22515" order_by="title" order="ASC" items_per_page=12 cols=3 colspad=2 colsphone=1]After recent updates, some pages are still looking OK, others don’t. One page shows no subcategories menu and no downloads (although the downloads and subcategories still exist). Another page does show the subcategories menu but only a few subcategories are displayed.
I have tested the pages also with the ‘link-template-default-ext’-template, but the results are the same.
Hope to hear from you.
