Then I tried to create a new package and attach a file, none of the options (upload-browse-Url) works in attach file section. Could you help me ?That is not possible for now, as after user enters their email address wpdm pro generate a temporary download link for him and mail it. So he he just come to page url the download link will be lost, But it can be achieved through some customization.

Please give me the url where you trying and temporary wp-admin login info in a private reply to check the short-code. However you also may use this add-on http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/download/advanced-tinymce-button/ to generate short-code.

Hello, I am testing the free version of Download Manager. When I attempted to look up the addresses to the files I uploaded (both address I entered myself as well as the /?wpdmdl=xxx) I was able to download all three files without being required to enter the password. I cleared my cache before doing this test. I also have password protected pages on my site and these did prompt me to enter the password. What could be the problem ?
I am considering to purchase the Pro Version but I want to make sure the software works in my case before doing so.
Also, could I get more information about the Personalized URL feature ?

Hi there,
Using the dropbox add-on I would like the ability for dropbox hosted files to be downloaded directly rather than open and play in the browser. I saw in another forum thread #26751 http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/support/topic/dropbox-issues/#post-26751 that “download or play will depends on dropbox, nothing to do from wpdm”. I found this dropbox article https://www.dropbox.com/en/help/201 about forcing a file to download by adding ?dl-1 to the url. But as the wpdm’s UI options stands I see no way of being able to make this change. Is there a way to add this to a file url somehow in the download manager options?
Another solution to this issue could be to use a php hook. I am wondering if there is a way to add internal php hooks like the web hooks add-on that would allow us to call a function when a file is downloaded?

Since I bought WPDM 2 years ago, I have this problem but never talked about it because, if didn’t had the time to tell you or to search about it, I didn’t think of it.
This means the issue is there for a long time. And as I have at least 50 new package to add, I would be interested to find a fixture for it.When I upload a file to a package by dropping or by selecting a file from my computer, wpdm upload the file and store it to the download-manager-files directory in “uploads” dir. The thing is the url/link generated shown in “Attached file” frame will be something like “1426002156my-file.zip” in place of something more like this : “/home/www/b31ce591a875c260a6b5327f3d514bb8/web/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/download-manager-files/my-file.zip”.
What I do until now is to upload the file like explain, then remove the attached file from the “Attached files” frame, then reattach file by browsing to the uploads/download-manager-files folder. (a pain in the a..)What can I do to fix this issue?

Google shouldn’t ( usually doesn’t ) cache the download link because of
rel="noindex nofollow"
However if block hot link is enabled then access to direct download from external source or site or direct url access through address bar will be blocked.In reply to: Filename and Client IP address in WebHooks

$_REQUEST['package']variable in your URL

We have a site with French and English pages. We have a Resources page that is translated in french and english and put the WPDM to show the correct category (Fr or En) depening on which language you are on.
When clicking on one of the categories, since the base url is the same (/downloads in this case) it always reverts the site back to english. Is there a way around this on the base url side? Or will I need to add logic to when it ouputs the category links to add /fr/ to the url when you click on a category?

before download wpdm s3 add-on generate a temporary download url for amazon s3 and then simply use redirect. the url usually stay valid for 30 mins or so.
Topic: File from URL not displaying
We have files hosted on a CDN and need to “upload” files to wpdm as URL’s. This is clearly shown in the demo site but once installing then adding the license key on our wp install we cannot see the option to publish a file from URL. We only see from file or browse tab.

Dig your plugin. I’ve spent the last few hours moving most of my public downloads to an Amazon S3 bucket and linking those files as remote URLs in WPDM (sweet feature, btw).
I’m curious how I can force PDFs to download or open in a new tab rather than target=”_blank” behavior. This is inconvenient for my users. I’ve played with download templates but of course, the [download_link] shortcode contains the <a href= so I cannot edit this and add a new target property to my custom templates.

Please advise. How can I force remote PDFs to download directly or open in a new tab?

please update to latest version, now you will be able to add remote url, additionally now you can use google drive add-on for large files.

Hello,
I am facing an issue where it is possible to view the original file location. If you go to Chrome/Downloads, you can see the exact URL where the file is stored. I am adding remote URLs to each package, rather than uploading files.
The download URLs entered do look like http://www.domain.com/?wpdmdl=16968 for example, but they don’t look like this in the download history.
How can I fix this?
