You can customize or create new page template from Admin Menu ► Downloads ► Templates.

    Clone a template
    Edit (remove [download_count]) and save the template
    Set the template name in your shortcode.

WPDM Image Button Helps to replace download option to a button selected.
Go to admin menu Downloads Settings Buttons Tab, (to select and save)

This is because for access restriction.
Check wp-admin► Downloads ► All files(Edit)/Add file ► Package Settings ► Allow Access

The issue is not same. Seems like installation is wrong. Please try removing and instating again.

Yes you can.
You need to customize according to your requirement
You need to copy the tpls dir from download manager plugin dir to active theme dir.
Them rename it copiedtpls dir ( which is in your theme dir ) to download-manager
Now edit .php files according to your customization in download-manager dir ( which is in your active theme dir )

@Jorgeg: Sorry no option for that. It is a critical issue , because one file might be attached to multiple packages. You can use FTP to delete any files.

Download size is not related to wpdm. Maybe installation is not completed correctly.

There Shortcodes some of them can be used in free version. And some of them are for Ad-ons
For wpdm_category you can use following shortcode:

It is possible to upgrade the PHP Version by using the Provider Admin Tool. Or contact with the server provider.

There is no document for free version. You can use wpdm-tinymce-button odd-on to get the shortcode generated.

In last update we have improved code base and using namespace, which require php v5.3.0+ ( http://php.net/manual/en/language.namespaces.rationale.php ), may you please update your server php version, however if that is not possible, you can get back the previous version from here https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/download-manager.2.8.3.zip

No, If your theme contains Bootstrap disabling will not cause any issue.
