1 ) Deactivate and delete the old version. You won’t lose any data.

3 ) Install the latest version and activate the license key.

You can try for now login modal, you have to enable options like the image.

You can link the login modal with any custom button or link using the .wpdmloginmodal-trigger class
If any element contains this class, clicking it will initiate the login modal. For example, here is a login button that is linked to the login modal <a href="#" class="wpdmloginmodal-trigger btn btn-primary">Login Modal</a>

Moreover when you will press CTRL + L, it will also popup the modal. hope it will help you.
