Can someone please advise on how to search for tags in the search shortcodes. Currently, it is only returning results from the file titles and not the associated tags for the uploads.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks for the response, I was using the wpdm_search_results shortcode, so thanks for showing the correct one.

However, the site crashes when I attempt to use the tags shortcode:

Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Cannot unset string offsets
in “…/wp-content/plugins/download-manager/libs/class.ShortCodes.php on line 576”

We’re running WordPress 5.5.3 with PHP 7.2.34

I tried updating the WPDM plugin, but now even our old shortcode that was working isn’t working anymore. You’ll be able to see what I mean here: https://www.birdlife.org.za/african-birdlife-index/

Before this gave us a working search feature, it just wasn’t giving the results of the tag. But now it’s not even activating the shortcode.

You’ll see that we have our documents/files in various categories – and need a search function that then displays the documents that match the title and/or tags.

Thanks for your time…

Hi,

Shortcodes are working fine, I have tested here, https://www.birdlife.org.za/wpdm-test/, you can also use this shortcode, it has parameters with tags and categories, https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/doc/short-codes/wpdm_packages-wp_query-in-a-shortcode-for-download-manager-packages/

thanks

Unfortunately, those don’t seem to be searching tags correctly. When I try search “Andrew McKechnie” for example, I get no results – but we have multiple documents tagged with that tag.

Also, my client doesn’t want a file list under the search box. The [wpdm_search_result] shortcode doesn’t show these, which is why we used it.

Screenshot of the desired page design

In the image above you can see that there aren’t any listings, until a search match is found – then the matching files are shown below.

Is there a way to achieve this, but with the tags as well? I’ve tried looking if there is a parameter I can adjust for that, but I can’t see one.

You can see below that there are documents with the tags:

That’s correct. And without having the files listed below the search item (only results that match the search should be displayed). That’s because we’ve already designed the page and have our files all on their own pages (instead of it being a dump of all files).

It should look like the above image, but return tag results and not just title results (ideally both title or tags, but just tags would work too).

I’m basically looking for a shortcode that works exactly like [wpdm_search_results] but searches tags instead of just titles.

Thanks for the continued support
