I am using Download Manager to host all of my downloadable files, but always through direct download links in pages. For example here:
Children have the Right to Legal Protection from Corporal Punishment
I don’t want people to be able to visit the download pages directly, as these are not styled as I want them, they don’t have the right information on and they don’t fit in the menu structure. However, Google is listing them, and the direct links are accessible:
Is there a way to block these pages completely? I only want visitors to be able to download the files where a link is embedded on a page or custom post type.
Thanks,
IanHi, I recently updated to the latest version of download manager (free), migrated my files across and am now hitting the following problem:
when clicking a download link, I get a text/html document like so:
http://www.tall-paul.co.uk/?wpdmdl=984
It appears to be the correct file, but the mimetype is wrong.
How can I fix this?
Hi I cant seem to update the WPDM Archive page plugin. The download updated-plugin-link looks like this: http://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/#2.4.4 and only takes me to your frontpage. No “action”. Is the link wrong or am I misunderstanding what to do then?
(And the update-notice/link doesnt look like it usually does when a plugin has an updated version.)

Can I solve thisUp until I updated the archive page yesterday I was able to search & sort downloads no problem. Now the controls are all dead and not working at all. Topic: Box.com add on
I installed the add on and i put the downloadable files in the packages. I did this with box.
It worked fine, but if somebody wants to downlaod that packages (from box) they get thisThe link you’re trying to access can’t be used to share files. Please ask the file owner to provide you with a shared link instead.
Any idea how to fix this? I didnt change a thing in box. I know that if i place a shared url, my users getting a preview which they can download. And thats not what i want. Because i have to go to box.com select the share and paste the url.
i found this on the forum:

Topic: Enable Email Lock
It makes no difference if I select “Email Download Link” or “Download Instantly.” It will be sent with the download link is always a mail.

Download pro 4.1
On adding categories to DWDMP, I discovered that using the same names for download categories as post categories uses the same category for both. So that if we later change the DWMP category name it changes the post category name of the same name screwing up permalinks and causing post pages to go missing.
I expected that DWMP categories to be unique but it seems not. Its inconvenient because the download category creation is in a different place from Post category creation so one has to jump back and forth to find out whether one has already used that category name.
Also when creating a menu, there are two tabs called categories so an unwary user can easily select from the wrong categories to add to the menu. Most plugins seem add the name of the plugin to the category tab, so you would see categories and Download Manager categories
Is this a correct assessment or am I missing something.
Hi there!
I’m a WP Download Manager 2.7.90 user in Japan.
I have a problem when I download the file uploaded. I get the message “403 Forbidden”.I installed WordPress, for example, to “http://example.com/wp”.
In case that, I think I can confirm “http://example.com/wp” in both “WordPress Address (URL)” and “Site Address (URL)” on WordPress dashboard when clicking Settings->General.First of all, in the above condition, I uploaded many files(xls, doc, pdf, etc) using download manager.
After the upload, I could download the file from the link set on static page.
*The link shows “http://example.com/wp/?wpdmdl=5825”, for example. In order to publish my web page formally, I changed “Site Address (URL)” from “http://example.com/wp” to “http://example.com”.
Maybe after that, all of the uploaded files cannot be downloaded. When I confirmed the link of “http://example.com/wp/?wpdmdl=5825”, it still showed “http://example.com/wp/?wpdmdl=5825”.
I tried changing it “http://example.com/?wpdmdl=5825” and copy&paste it to the address bar of browser, I could download the file. After changing “Site Address (URL)”, even if I upload a file, the link still includes “wp/”.
How can I solve this problem?Best Regards,
