I’m using WPDM Pro 4.0.6. I’ve created a custom link template using Downloads -> Templates and I can see that the template is being used in [WPDM-archive]. That’s all good.
However, I also want the link template to be used whenever packages are listed in other search results. This should be when using site search, tag cloud or using the category list. Whenever the download is displayed in those results some default WP template is used but I want the custom link to be used.
Can you please advise how I might achieve this?
I’ve created a custom link template using Downloads -> Templates editor. When I view lists of downloads in [wpdm-archive] they display correctly using the custom templates. I have the setting “Link Template for Archive Page” set to the new template. That’s all good.
However, when I view post listings that have been created using a tag cloud or site search or category list, the template is not applied. WP appears to be using a standard template in those cases. How can I configure it so that WP always uses the WPDM template assigned to the package.
Thanks,
Andreas.
Hi, I’ve spent nearly a week trying to upgrade from free plugin to premium still without success. There are many issues with the premium plugin that make it very difficult to upgrade once you have the free installed and an established wp setup.
1. The IDs in premium are based on wp_posts so unless you have a fresh DB you can’t get the IDs to match up. This means you have to update all of your shortcodes on entire site with new Ids. Is there a solution to this?
2. Import to premium plugin does not work. I get a message saying data copied, but nothing is copied over.
3. The styles are all different from premium. Meaning once you install, you immediately have a lot of layout issues on your site. With much bigger buttons, links to download pages etc all messing up existing layouts.
As a non web developer, I had to spend a long time doing web searches creating new CSS to re-create the old download button in the free version. This is a no-brainer, it should be the same as free version. Let people customize in once they get the premium installed.
4. The main reason i upgraded was the “social lock” system, but I am yet to get that to work. Firstly, the popup box display isn’t big enough to display the buttons. It displays with the buttons all misaligned and generally looking a mess. In my view, it would be better to have the box responsive to both screen size and those buttons that appear. Again this was another CSS change that had to be done.
5. The linkdin icon doesn’t work.
6. Having the social counters displayed slows down page load. It would be better to have an option to hide the share counters. Also in my view a good option would be to have a countdown (e.g. share this or wait 60 seconds).
7. Embedded ads. It’s really not acceptable to have embedded advertisements (@webmaniac) in a plugin that costs money. I know this can be removed by editing the code, but it really shouldn’t be that way.
After a week of frustration, Iโm at point of giving up and finding a better, more stable plugin that meets my needs.
I understand making plugin takes a lot of time. But in my opinion, it would be much better for the premium plugin to have a smaller number of quality features that actually work. Rather than a mass of features that only partially work and are of poor reliability.
Thanks for your support.
Hi, I liked the free version of Download Manager so much that I purchased the pro version. Ive installed and activated plug in, uploaded a few pdf files. When I put the shortcode for a single document into a page, the page displays the download link, but when you click it, it takes you to the stats of that file in my template blog view. Furthermore, it doesn’t show that any file is attached to the link. I can see all uploaded files have been uploaded to my server, but I can’t see them. I just want it to show a download link as the free version did. Also, i clicked the download icon i want, but can’t see any of them. I used the v4 plugin. Please help.
I’ve created this package: http://www.smartchange.it/get/smartchange-app/
It has a simple email lock, set as is:
Ask for Visitor’s Name: Yes
After submit form: Download Instantly
If i download the file via a pc all is ok. The file is immediatly downloaded and a download link is emailed too (no set this option; wpdm emails on its own initiative ^_^ )
But if i download via an Android Phone and its mobile web browser, it downloads a .htm file (smartchange_monitor.htm)
Why?
