1 ) The answer is the custom link template. Clone the template you are using now from Downloads Templates page. Then remove unnecessary data/UI from the template. Then use this custom template in your shortcode.
2 ) This looks like an issue with your server’s email settings. Please try installing an SMTP plugin. Do you have any email feature on your site where email is sent successfully?
Clone the link template you are using now from Downloads Templates page. Then remove the [page_url] / [page_link] template tags from there. Use only [title] tag to show the package name without any link to the details page.
It isn’t possible to remove the details page as it is just a post page handled by core.
I have a couple of things I need help with.
1) How can we remove the little boxes and ellipses that are in the download link? See attached image!
2) I want folks to give me their name and email, and be eble to download instantly, as well as receive the document via email. I have selected the Email lock option/Ask Visitor’s Name/Download Instantly, but while it allows me to instantly download, I am not getting the email. with the document. See attached image. How can I fix this?
On my site, downloads are liste on a single page, with several shortcodes like this one: [wpdm_package id='7986']
Example is attached.
What I need to do is removing the link to download page. If possible, I’d like to get rid of that page altogether. Maybe there’s an option to not use it ?
In any case, I need users to click download and that’s it.
You can use custom link template to insert shortcode that won’t link to the package details page. So, there will be no link to start with. Just clone any link template and remove [page_url] template tag from there. Thus custom link template feature is available in Pro version of Download Manager.
Sorry, I thought you want to hide download buttons in the file list.
However, You can show the download button when inserting package shortcode. As you are using Form Lock all forms will make the page very long. I have applied a custom link template in the first accordion https://www.cromsource.com/publications/
If you want you can apply the same template for all packages there. But a template without form will look better there.
Okay, a bigger problem I have is also that I have multiple downloads on the same page but some are hidden by another plugin. These downloads can’t be accessed through the F12 console or similar, but if the person simply knows the permalink they can get to the download page. (I have the downloads set to be accessible only by Admin and Subscriber and all other users are subscribers). Would there be a way to hide the post pages on user by user basis or completely?
by post page I mean the page the permalink sends you to.
I don’t want to hide the individual download links. I want terms and conditions to be accepted before individual files can be downloaded. Not the entire package.
Your key is linked to intranet.elgas.com.au If you are using Download Manager in that site then license key should work fine unless you server blocking connection to https://www.wpdownloadmanager.com/ Please check if that’s the issue.
From current version, you can update plugin from your WP Dashboard.
Have you installed the Pro version of WPDM? If not please download it here. Deactivate and delete free version before installing Pro version. You won’t lose any data.
You can use Form Lock plugin to use a custom form instead of email lock. Or another option is using Advanced Custom Fields add-on. ACF add-on adds more fields to the email lock. Please check those links to know more about add-on features.
1 ) Create a custom link template from Downloads Template page. You can clone an existing template from that page and edit on top of it. Remove all data that is not important for you ( i.e. version, date, download count etc ). Also remove [page_url] and [page_link] template tags those exists there. That will remove all link to the details page.
When inserting the category shortcode select this custom template as your link template. Install TinyMCE add-on to insert shortcode easily.
Download Button shows up after form submission in my test as shown in the following screenshot. Where are you having the issue? Please send me package link.
the only license related error notification we get for WpDownloadManager is this: “Please activate license for automatic update. ”
But I’m thinking if this issue persists but only affects the auto update featured, we’re thinking to just download the latest files from you guys and manually update.
As long as the download links we build continue to work, then we’re ok.
We had no issues like this in the staging site when we were testing it. But it was in an earlier version of wordpress.
Is license verification only for automatic updates?
